| I tried again on a clean machine, this time remembering to replace | Cygwin's sh.exe with bash.exe, and mounting C:\mingw as /mingw and | C:\mingw\include as /mingw/mingw32/include. You should not need the latter two step, if you use the --with-gcc option to configure, as the building guide advises. Simon

| make clean; ./configure --build=mingw >& configure.log PS: I should have said * Before autoconf, mv ./configure configure-save. (It's not writable so autoconf fails otherwise.) * rm config.cache (maybe it's remembering out of date info)

I ran strace with -ff option. Attached is the trace file. I can see many "No such file or directory" in the trace. Can you see the problem? Thanks Saswat

If you have a Linux build which behaves in the same way, could you try stracing it (i.e. prepend 'strace' to the command which fails) and send us the output? Cheers, Simon

I can't honestly remember exactly what the cause was, but it was something deeply obscure to do with not having reconfigured enough. The safe thing to do is to check out an entirely new, virgin, tree; reconfigure from scratch (on win32 don't forget the --with-gcc= part; see the build notes); and then make. Time consuming, but faster than head scratching. Simon

Dynamic/runtime loading with GHC

Hi all, I've whipped up an example tarball of how to do "runtime loading" (similar to dynamic loading, a.k.a. dlopen() or LoadLibrary()) in GHC. You can find it here: http://www.algorithm.com.au/wiki/hacking/haskell.ghc_runtime_loading It's a little example stdin text filter program, that loads in .o and .so "plugins" at runtime. New in version 1.1 is the ability to load .so files as plugins :). I think that with a bit more polish, we may even be able to rename this to a dynamic loader one day. Dynamic linker problems on Jaguar

Hi, I get the following with the package for Mac OS X 10.2: [Dominic-Cooneys-Computer:~] dominic% ghc --make Main.lhs dyld: /usr/local/lib/ghc-5.04/ghc-5.04 Undefined symbols: /usr/local/lib/ghc-5.04/ghc-5.04 undefined reference to _BC expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib /usr/local/lib/ghc-5.04/ghc-5.04 undefined reference to _PC expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib /usr/local/lib/ghc-5.04/ghc-5.04 undefined reference to _UP expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib Trace/BPT trap I get the impression from Google Groups that rebuilding from the source will fix this. Is there a Jaguar binary, source drop, or should I rebuild? Thanks, Dominic Cooney

I mentioned this to a colleague and he said he had exactly the same problem (ghc exits with error 1), on Windows and Linux, when building from source tarballs and CVS. We don't normally have any problems running the haskell.org GHC binaries. Can any of you suggest what we might be doing wrong? We are in the southern hemisphere, so our electrons may be orbiting backwards. Ultimately, we are keen to play around with Meta Haskell, as our journal club is reading Template Metaprogramming in Haskell soon. Thanks, Dominic Cooney

Interface file for ShowFunctions not found

Hello. I am trying to using the ShowFunctions module but ghc 5.04.1 is not being able to find its interface file.
