im new to ghc. i just could not find how to include lib/package in the compile... by browsing the web, i found that http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/fpu/ghc-guides/set/packages.html#LISTING-PACKAGES have a 3.8 section about package, whereas haskell.org/ghc/documentation dont ! also ghc --list-packages doesnt not work on my win install (fresh from the day before) also, the doc mention a packages.conf file. where is this one ? process file table full?

I recognized that in src/interpreter/Makefile there was still a reference to the posix package: HFLAGS = $(shell $(LOCAL)fixghc $(GHCSYM) -fglasgow-exts \ -package lang -package util -package posix $(READLINE) ) After removing "-package posix" and applying the change you mentioned, the compilation of hmake works now! Many thanks!! - Now I may try to go on with building the HaXml tools. Christian

function over Array and UArray possible?

Hallo! Is it possible to give a context, so that a function can have a signature which combines foo :: (Ix i) => Array i a -> Array i a and foo :: (Ix i) => UArray i a -> Uarray i a ? at the moment I have a lot of functions foo and fooU which have the same body but different type signatures. I tried to change the "configure" file as you described -- and after "./configure" and "make" I still get the same error message (see above). What can I do now? Is there another way to use HaXml on Win/Cygwin with GHC? The flag you need to set is RtsFlags.GcFlags.maxHeapSize, which is in units of BLOCKs (i.e. divide by BLOCK_SIZE). Look in fptools/ghc/compiler/parser/hschooks.c for examples. Cheers, Simon

Hallo! I need to change the maximum heap to run a program. I know that I can call my program with the -M option (e.g. myProgram +RTS -M120m -RTS). But in section 3.12.4 of the user guide are some hooks named, which allow one to change different defaults. Unfortunatly I didn't find a Hook that enables me to increase the heap. Okay, I tried to ignore the error and went on with "make install" (after "./configure" and "make"). However, again an error message appears (see above), and there is no .exe output. What can I do about this now?
