[Haskell-cafe] Does bytestring need help with maintenance?

I noticed that there are bunch of issues and PRs, which have been open for a while without a response. I understand that the maintainers might not have the time to work on review/patches, is there a way in which I can help out? [Not sure if this is on-topic or if I should've posted it to the Libraries list.]
