Hi! I've upgraded my haskell programs to opengl 2.4.0.1 and I've noticed massive (3X) slowdown. I did only type fixes on code. Is it normal? Csaba

Open GL 3.2

Hello! (new to the list) I am taking a course in computer graphics, so i installed the latest version of the OpenGL package through cabal. At the top of of the documentation page it says OpenGL 3.2, but when i read different parts of the documentation on hoogle it says OpenGL 2.1 every here and there. What's what? A new version of the OpenGLRaw package has been uploaded to Hackage. * Use opaque newtypes for the basic OpenGL types, adding the common instances for them, too. Note that this might break programs which depend on the concrete representations. Use explicit conversions where necessary, making all assumptions explicit. * Fixed linking issues on Mac OS X, the package should work out of the box without any warnings or additional flags now. * Fall back to GetProcAddress on Windows when WGL doesn't find an API entry. This should fix problems using core functions with some driver/OS combinations. * Added support for OpenGL 3.2 and the latest NV extensions. * All extensions export all their functions/tokens/types, even if they are in the core. This will keep the extension module exports more stable. * Fixed the types of the glPixelMap functions, using GLsizei instead of GLint for the size, following the OpenGL specification. Cheers, S.

A new version of the GLURaw package has been uploaded to Hackage. * Fixed linking issues on Mac OS X, the package should work out of the box without any warnings or additional flags now. * Fixed the type of gluUnProject4, the near and far parameters are of type GLclampd, not GLdouble. A new version of the GLUT package has been uploaded to Hackage. * Fixed linking issues on Mac OS X, the package should work out of the box without any warnings or additional flags now. * Handle additional mouse buttons via 'AdditionalButton Int' in the MouseButton type. * Made a few minor typing adjustments, which don't really matter for the type synonyms used for the basic OpenGL types so far, but which do matter for the upcoming datatype renamings for them. * Aesthetic improvements in the brick shader example. Hi again, I've just solved my previous problem I had with the new HOpenGlRaw package. It seems that wglGetProcAddress wont retreieve pointers for core 1.1 functions (like glClearColor) and these must be retrieved with standard GetProcAddress calls instead (see http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=…) I made these changes to cbits/HsOpenGLRaw.hs [18-22]: void* hs_OpenGLRaw_getProcAddress(const char *name) { void* p = wglGetProcAddress((LPCSTR)name); if (p) return p; else return GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle("opengl32"),(LPCSTR)name); } With those changes everything now works fine! I suggest you incorporate it into the next revision to make HOpenGLRaw work on windows for those of us that has opengl 3.1 hardware and drivers. When I run an old opengl example (http://netsuperbrain.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/teapots.hs) that used to work with previous versions of HOpenGL, I get the following error: teapots.exe: user error (unknown OpenGL extension entry glLightfv, check for GL_ARB_compatibility) This seems reasonable (OpenGl 3.1 doesnt support that fixed-function stuff without explicitly turning it on), but when I try to run my own small test program I get similar errors for OpenGL 3.1 stuff too: Test.exe: user error (unknown OpenGL extension entry glClearColor, check for OpenGL 3.1) If I don't put the glut32.dll in the same directory as those examples, I get an error saying something like: teapots.exe: user error (unknown GLUT entry glutInit) so maybe I need to tell my executables where to find the opengl dll to link against. I've tried to put opengl32.dll in the same directory, but with no luck. Suggestions, anyone? maxTextureUnit bug

Hi! I've found a bug in gl binding. The unmarshal function is wrong, because in this case there is no gl_TEXTURE0 offset. maxTextureUnit :: GettableStateVar TextureUnit maxTextureUnit = makeGettableStateVar (getEnum1 unmarshalTextureUnit GetMaxTextureUnits) unmarshalTextureUnit :: GLenum -> TextureUnit unmarshalTextureUnit x = TextureUnit (fromIntegral (x - gl_TEXTURE0)) Cheers, Csaba Hruska
