Hi there... The following problem was posted to the haskell-users list: We can not build a opengl application with hopengl. We get this error message: Linking ... Undefined first referenced symbol in file glXGetProcAddressARB /usr/local/share/ghc/lib/ghc-6.2/libHSOpenGL_cbits.a(HsOpenGL.o) glXGetProcAddressARB is a function that returns just a pointer to another function. It is used to find out what special gl features your graphiccard or mesa provides. If there isn't that feature you want, this function returns a NULL pointer. I hope I'm right so far. Our system is a "SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-27 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60". I looked around, but I was unable to find any libglX, where this function normally appears. One way to make this all running is to write a foo-bar-glXGetProcAddressARB function that returns everytime the NULL-pointer. But how can I compile this together with the haskell source? Or must I build a *.so library? Or is there a much much easier way to solve this? API docs for build-in openGL in GHC 6.2

Hi Sven, I've played with some examples given by your link, and I tried (successfully) to "port" the most primitive examples from HOpenGL distribution for use with the build-in openGL of GHC 6.2 for Mac OS. It seems there are some significant changes. Is there or will there be a description of "porting" rules or even of the whole API, because the documentation of the HOpenGL Web Sites seems to be outdated or at least not apropriate. Hi, as far as I understand now, for my compiliing problem (see last past with same subject) I must do ghc -package OpenGL -package GLUT --make Cube.hs and in the code doing import OpenGL import GLUT Right so far ? But it seems that the package description in the GHC 6.2 distribution is not right for this packages (OpenGL and GLUT), for both the directory $(InstallDir)/Graphics/Rendering and $(InstallDir)/Graphics/UI is used .....??? Hi, I'm a Haskell newbee and try to compile the HOpenGL Examples with GHC 6.2 Mac OS X with it's build in openGL stuff, by giving ghc --make Cube.hs the answer is :"not find module GLUT and GL", which is understandable because in the Cube.hs there is the code import GL import GLU But how to say ghc what he needs ? Is it -addpackage or -l option (in other words "import" is the same as include in C?) ? BTW: In the HOpenGL distribution, in the directory lib there is a file GL.hs and GLUT.hs which I think are the files needed for teh example above. But I don't found these files in the new GHC 6.2 distribution, is that correct ? Thanks for your help. Greetings Hans

found GLUT bug in ghc6.2 (passiveMotionCallback)

i was not able to use motionCallback and passiveMotionCallback together. Example Program and Compiliation?

Hi all, I recently downloaded the new version of HOpenGL (1.05) and ghc(6.0.1), compiled them, set them up without any problems. Now I'm trying to strech my wings a little by doing some intial programs. Unfortunately there isn't any recent tutorials, and I know that HOpenGL has gone through some interface name changes. I was hoping that maybe somebody on the list could give me an short example program, or atleast how to run ghc to compile the Hello.hs program found in the examples/redbook_hs directory, outside of running the makefile (ie, what would be the command I would run to compile it, what packages etc.) I am currently working on a linux system, but if you only know windows, I can probably translate between the two.
