Hugs98 under Linux

Dear Sirs, I installed HUGS98 under Suse 7.3 and was disapppointed to find out that the arrow keys are not functioning as they are supposed to. Instead pressing any of them displays a number of characters - usually [[A or [[B. I can´t navigate between characters, nor can i call up previously used prompts, which annoys me a lot scince i know it can be done (i had been using Hugs98 under Windows before i changed to Linux). Do you know asolutin to this problem. I am pretty new to Lnux so any help will be appreciated.
