Hi all! I've been dealing with ghc-iphone guide ( http://projects.haskell.org/ghc-iphone/downloads/GHC-iPhone.pdf) I've installed all the binaries and packages but I just can't find the samples (HaskellDraw, GetInBehind) that are suposed to work out of the box. Can someone give me a hint on where can I find those project. PS: Sorry for my crappy english. -- Ernesto M. Carrión

Link Errors on import of Data.Sequence

Hi all, I've been using ghc-iphone successfully by calling /opt/iphone/ghc-6.10.4-iphone $(SOURCES) -o mylib from a makefile enabled in a custom target in XCode and adding "libmylib.a" into the project. However I recently imported Data.Sequence into the Haskell modules and now I get some build errors during linking: "_containerszm0zi2zi0zi1_DataziSequence_singleton_closure", referenced from: _FuncModel_deriveLR_srt in liblhsci.a(FuncModel.o) _containerszm0zi2zi0zi1_DataziSequence_singleton_closure$non_lazy_ptr in liblhsci.a(FuncModel.o) (maybe you meant: _containerszm0zi2zi0zi1_DataziSequence_singleton_closure$non_lazy_ptr) I had simliar link issues using the method described in the documentation so I went with the direct executable ghc-6.10.4, and I fear this approach has finally been compromised. I was just wondering if anyone else has come across the problem or has a suggestion to get those symbol names to match up correctly. I'm still using XCode 3.2.5 with gcc. Let me know if I can provide any more info or if there is anything I can read up on to better understand what's happening. Thanks, Thomas

Hello I have just received my new Iphone 4 and hopefully I will be using it in the next couple of days. I have much to learn, but a question which I hope that someone can answer concerns texting. Is it possible to use predictive texting or do I have to write each letter using a QUERTY keyboard layout? Many thanks Margaret Smith

Installing ghc-iphone from source

Hi, We've been trying to install ghc-iphone, based on the 30 Apr 2010 installation and user's guide. Installing from source came to a screeching halt at step 5: - "ghc-iphone.patch" and - "ghc-iphone-simulator" and - "config-iphone.sh" don't exist in anything we've downloaded. We installed everything in the source instructions, plus "ghc-iphone.tar.bz2". This manual seems in need of a revision. I would be glad to help update it. Tom

hi, i'm trying to compile a project with ghc-iphone (ghc-iphone-binary-1.6-sdk-4.2), but some libraries (e.g. data-accessor-template) fail with an error like this: Template Haskell bracket illegal in a stage-1 compiler any ideas how to solve this problem? many thanks, <sk>

ghc-iphone with recent OSX & XCode

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has been developing iOS 4.2 apps on Snow Leopard using a recent version of Xcode (3.2.5) The top-level issue for me is that the ghc-iphone binary I got from http://projects.haskell.org/ghc-iphone/ is trying to compile with i686-apple-darwin9-gcc-4.0.1 but the version on my machine is i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.0.1. Symlinking 10 to 9 throws a ton of errors about missing "Math.h" and many other headers, which may also be because things have been renamed and moved around a bit. I just thought I would ask first, has anyone already come across this problem? If you are familiar with this project enough to suggest a solution please do. Who's got a toolchain actually building executables that they can deploy to iOS devices?

So I notice iPwn's GHC controbutions, though their current state is slightly unclear, as is the current procedure (if any) for actually using them. I have been able to get jhc to compile an executable, but am at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it once it's built. (Perhaps I can build a static library and drop it into an XCode project?) I also note that section 4 at http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/IPhone, which purports to describe how to build for the iPhone using jhc, doesn't actually work with my install of XCode 3.2.4, as "arm-apple-darwin-gcc" exists nowhere on my system. I got a simulator build to work using the following settings: [iphoneSim] cc=/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 merge=le32 All corrections and advice gratefully received. --me

Obj-C Classes

Hello *, I was thinking about how much easier programming for the iPhone gets when using Haskell, especially when there are a lot of Apple's GUI libraries involved. Well, I have not come to a conclusion. But I figured programming in Obj-C should be shorter and easier anyway, so I came up with a tiny collection of Objective-C Classes that try to make some improvements and that only came to my mind because I have a little Haskell background. If you have suggestions, find errors, think that something else needs to be added, or want to feedback anything else, feel free to contact me. Hi guys, I don't think this licensing issue will be a problem for us. It's not clear to me that our game violates this new term, and we certainly don't violate any of the principles Steve Jobs used to justify it. If Apple wants to reject our app, they already have a variety of excuses at their disposal, as they've demonstrated on many occasions. Frankly, it'd be their loss; Android is now the fastest-growing smartphone market, and we'll be more than happy to focus on it (and other friendlier markets) if Apple's not interested in having our product on their platform.
