A few more minor WinXP problems

Hi, Some more that I noticed: The following resources could not be created. The resource 'docs/bugs/Nhc13Test1.hs' could not be created because another resource exists whose path differs only by case. The resource 'docs/bugs/Nhc13Test10.hs' could not be created because another resource exists whose path differs only by case. The resource 'docs/bugs/Nhc13Test13.hs' could not be created because another resource exists whose path differs only by case. I think this is all of them. Again, not a big deal, but it might be nice to fix. Cheers, Tony

aux.dtd inconvenient on Windows

Hi, This is not really a bug but an inconvenience. Checking out the cvs repository version of nhc98 doesn't work on my WinXP system as the file: nhc98/src/libraries/HaXml/bugs/aux.dtd cannot be created (aux is a reserved filename). Not a big deal since I was able to checkout on a Unix box and copy over, but it might be worth changing the name. Cheers, Tony Sloane Dept of Computing, Macquarie University

OK, with the following modules: ----- module Bar (Bar(..)) where data Bar = CBar | CBaz deriving Show ----- ----- module Baz (Bar(..)) where data Bar = CBar | CBaz deriving Show ----- ----- module Foo (Bar(CBar,CBaz)) where import qualified Bar import Bar hiding (Bar(..)) import Baz ----- nhc98 gives bogus errors: $ nhc98 -c -o Baz.o Baz.hs $ nhc98 -c -o Bar.o Bar.hs $ nhc98 -c -o Foo.o Foo.hs ====== Errors when renaming: Constructor CBaz defined 2 times. Constructor CBar defined 2 times. $ hugs and ghc6 are happy. As a workaround I've found changing Foo's import of Bar to import Bar hiding (Bar(CBar,CBaz)) fixes it. Thanks Ian

Instances of qualified imported classes

Hi, While getting hat to work with ghc6 I've come across the following issue: If Bar.hs is this: ----- module Bar where class Bar a where bar :: a -> Bool ----- and Foo.hs is this: ----- module Foo where import qualified Bar data Foo = Foo instance Bar.Bar Foo where bar _ = True ----- then ghc 6.0.1 is happy enough, but nhc98 v1.16 doesn't like bar being used unqualified: $ make clean rm -f *.o *.hi $ make ghc ghc6 -c Bar.hs ghc6 -c Foo.hs $ make clean rm -f *.o *.hi $ make nhc nhc98 -c Bar.hs nhc98 -c Foo.hs ====== Errors when renaming: The identifier bar instantiated at 9:5 does not belong to this class. make: *** [nhc] Error 1 $ If I qualify bar: ----- module Foo where import qualified Bar data Foo = Foo instance Bar.Bar Foo where Bar.bar _ = True ----- then the roles are reversed: $ make clean rm -f *.o *.hi $ make ghc ghc6 -c Bar.hs ghc6 -c Foo.hs Foo.hs:11: Qualified name in function definition: Bar.bar make: *** [ghc] Error 1 $ make clean rm -f *.o *.hi $ make nhc nhc98 -c Bar.hs nhc98 -c Foo.hs $ hugs agrees with GHC 6 on both, and the report seems to agree on the latter (I haven't looked for what it says on the former, but it seems reasonable behaviour).
