[yesod] using presistance in sub sites

Hi there! I'm a bit confused on how to use persistence in a sub site... I've written this here, which fails to compile: https://gist.github.com/1058863 Is it possible at all to define persistence functionality on subsite level and then use the masters runDB ? Whats best practice here? I've seen yesod-auth let implement the persistance related stuff over a type class in the master ... But I'd like to keep that stuff with the subsite... Ideas, comments anyone? Thanks Markus

[xml-types] Help needed: Constructing XML documents

Give it some love now") create is defined like that: createBook book = runCouchDB' $ newDoc db' $ toJSON book However when I perform the post request I get: Server error : Stack overflow. All works fine if I comment the line of createBook. I must be missing something because I was not able to use macid neither...

On moving Yesod-specific discussion to a separate list

Hello all, I was wondering if it would be possible to direct Yesod-specific discussion to a separate mailing list. I do not have any disrespect towards Yesod, the main problem is that one can only read some finite number of mailing lists before being overwhelmed. A certain portion of Yesod-related mails certainly belong on the web-devel list. I'm thinking of e.g. RFC's, announcements, libraries. These are all mails which are of interest to the webdev community as a whole. However, there's a difference between Yesod-related and Yesod specific. Personally, I am not interested in "How to do X in Yesod" mails, because I don't know much about Yesod, and sometimes it's hard to manually "filter" this mailing list before reading it. I think it would benefit the two types of readers if we could move Yesod-specific discussion to a separate mailing list. Cheers, Jasper

ANNOUNCE: mime-mail-ses 0.0.0

Hi all, I'd like to announce the first release of mime-mail-ses[1]. This provides easy integration between the mime-mail package[2] and Amazon's Simple Email Service. This package was written for the Haskellers website[3], purely because I despise setting up mail servers. There aren't many more features planned, though hopefully in the future it will integrate more closely with Aristid's aws package[4]. Also, a big thank you to Thomas DuBuisson for crypto-api[5] and Vincent Hanquez for cryptohash[6]. Those two packages make it very easy to write applications that require cryptographic authentication. I'd like to put a small Yesod application on my university webspace, but they're on AIX 4.1, while I'm on OS X.6. The current situation, technically speaking, is that Snap has no official sessions package; but that will be changing in 0.6. The sessions package that will be part of 0.6 does, I believe, use your clientsession package, unless that's changed since I last looked. (I happen to be maintaining my own alternative package for typed sessions, which has two backends -- one using server-side state, and the other using your clientsession package. But that's not an official part of Snap.) Your cookie package is not likely to be useful for Snap, since parsing and rendering of cookie-related headers is already included in snap-core (and, I think, belongs there; it's a rather central part of HTTP; if we parse any headers at all, we ought to include cookies). As for http-only, I definitely think it's a good idea, in pretty much all cases where cookies are used to pass through server-side state. The kinds of cookies generated by clientsession are not really vulnerable to cookie-stealing attacks anywa due to the encryption that goes on, so it's really just an extra layer of security. But the same encryption guarantees that there's no possible use for trying to access and read those particular cookies in JavaScript, so adding the http-only flag doesn't actually prevent anything useful, and there's no reason *not* to do it.
