The version of Gnucash I tested against was 2.2.1 The issue was that xmonad was unmapping a window when it received a synthetic UnmapNotify event but when the (real) UnmapNotify response came from xmonad's UnmapWindow request, xmonad was failing to ignore that event. This gets us in trouble with Gnucash, which, for some reason, sends, one after the other, a MapRequest, a synthetic UnmapNotify and then another MapRequest. So xmonad would map it, unmap it (which generates an UnmapNotify, but we won't get it until later) and then map it again. Shortly thereafter the UnmapNotify would arrive and xmonad would unmap the window. The solution was to change "unmanage" (which gets called on unmap when we aren't expecting any events) to not clear the waitingUnmap number for that window and instead do that on a DestroyWindowEvent so that the UnmapNotify from an unmapping that we request will be ignored. This fix leaves a little something to be desired in that there is a slight flicker because the window gets mapped, unmapped, and then mapped again, but seems like a very minor issue to me and I don't see what we can do about that without getting into some sort of stateful event handling system. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue. newbie #2: "could not find module" XMonad.NoBorders, XMonad.Layout.NoBorders, etc.

I have searched the documention, and googled it. I had xmonad-0.4.1 running with extensions. I now have the default xmonad-0.5 running, and responding to changes in the ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs. But, I can't get it see any contrib extension. e.g., if I put "import XMonad.foo" in ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs, and hit alt-q, I get the popup screen saying: *** Error detected while loading xmonad configuration file: /home/whatever/.xmonad/xmonad.hs xmonad.hs:17:7: Could not find module `XMonad.foo': it is not a module in the current program, or in any known package. Please check the file for errors. *** My xmonad source is here: /root/xmonad/xmonad-0.5 I did this for root (entered as root): runhaskell Setup configure runhaskell Setup build runhaskell Setup install The executable and xmonad.hs are here: /root/.xmonad I did this for username (entered as root): runhaskell Setup configure --user --prefix=/home/username runhaskell Setup build runhaskell Setup install --user The executable and xmonad.hs are here: /home/username/.xmonad My xmonad-contrib source is here: /root/xmonad/xmonad-contrib-0.5 I ran the same commands as above. I need to know where to put xmonad-contrib-0.5 (?), or parts of it (?), or the extension.hs files themselves (?) such as NoBorders.hs, or, how to "register" them (?) to make them visible. (I tried putting xmonad-contrib-0.5 under xmonad-0.5, for example. Etc.) Now that we have on-the-fly config, I shouldn't have to recompile anything, right? The excellent documentation includes good examples of includes in the xmonad.hs, but I don't see this problem discussed. I hope my problem suggests an improvement to the documentation, rather than density on my part. set window borders in manageHook

Hello! I want to be able to mess with window borders in manageHook (e.g. to make mplayer borderless at all times). This is impossible because of the way 'manage' and 'windows' currently work. Any ideas what to do here? I think 'manage' and possibly the manageHook interface need to be changed to make this work, and I don't like interface changes. :/ Lukas

Trouble with multiple screens and Nvidia drivers

Hi all, (This is all with xmonad-0.5) I've been wanting to try out xmonad (as a replacement for ion3), but I'm having some trouble with the multi-screen support, but maybe I'm just confused about how it's supposed to work... My setup is as follows: |----------------| |--------------| | Screen 1 | | Screen 0 | |----------------| |--------------| This is what the nvidia control panel says. The nvidia control panel also says that Xinerama is enabled (and so does my xorg.conf). Xdpyinfo says: default screen number: 0 number of screens: 1 and lists a screen size of 3200x1200 (my screens are both 1600x1200). As far as I understand Xinerama this is all as it should be. Moving stuff across the boundary between the two screens works as it should. Now, the behavior that seems very disconcerting to me is this: Let's say I use the Full layout exclusively and place a client (A) on workspace 1, thus: Workspace 1: Screen 1 Screen 0 |--------------| |--------------| | (empty) | | client A | |--------------| |--------------| Then I switch to workspace 4, place a client (B) which also ends up on the physical screen 0: Workspace 4: Screen 1 Screen 0 |--------------| |--------------| | (empty) | | client (B) | |--------------| |--------------| If I now switch to workspace 1 via Alt-1 and then go up through the workspaces via Alt-2, Alt-3 and Alt-4 I get the following sequence of physical layouts: Alt-2 => Workspace 2: Screen 1 Screen 0 |--------------| |--------------| | (empty) | | (empty) | |--------------| |--------------| => As it should be. In theory anyway; the Wikipedia and Google ones work fine for me, but the Internet Archive's docs on how to do don't necessarily seem to be correct. If you were, like me, previously running shell commands to call Surfraw or similar shell scripts to do the same thing, you can now scrap them and replace them. The doLayout function in ResizableTile's LayoutClass instance applies its tiling to the results of W.integrate -- but W.integrate results in the entire contents of the stack, which includes any floating windows. Tabbed Layout

Hy, I got two questions: First the more general one: Serveal weeks ago here was a overviewpage with some modules and screenshots. Currently I can only find the haddok text, but there are no screenshots. I think the screenshots were quite usefull for beginners. Sometimes you can't realy imagine what a module/plugin does. The second one: Is there a possibility to add the tabbed-layout not to the whole workspace to maintain the tiled-layout and add the tabs to each of the small windows. More like ion (:/) does it.
