Hi Attached is a patch which allows compilation of StackSet.hs with Yhc. This patch does not make StackSet Haskell98, and leaves the pattern guards in. Thanks Neil

Hi guys, I just checked out the latest xmonad, X11-extras and XMonadContrib from darcs ( figured a fresh install was a good idea ). It's all working fine, except that when I move focus to a workspace, the tabs for that workspace lose all of their titles strings. The unfocused workspace is fine. I'm also not seeing the difference in colour between the active and inactive tabs ... Have I managed to grab code-in-transit, or is this a bug ? Cheers D

xmobar-0.3 "the Threaded" released!

Hi, I keep working on xmobar, my status bar for XMonad. With this release I'm starting to address performance issues: 1. Now each command is run in a separate thread, and the output saved in a MVar. This reduces xmobar memory usage and, for multi cpu/core systems it could be less resource consuming. The bottle neck remains: System.Process.runInteractiveCommand. I'll try to address this problem too. Any idea? 2. It is now possible to set a refresh time for each command to be run. See xmobar.config-sample. 3. Xbar type is now modelled over XMonad X. It increases very slightly memory footprint but it simplifies many functions. 4. The single file has been split into several ones. 5. A new monitor has been added, to check weather information. See xmobar.config-sample to see how to set it to retrieve weather information every 60 minutes. In the argument list you need to specify the weather station code (to demonstrate independent refresh rates). 6. Released through Hackage. darcs patch: support self-modifying layouts.

Hi all, Here's a patch to support self-modifying Layouts. The problem with the previous API was that there was no safe way to write a self-modifying layout, since there was no way for the layout to determine where (if anywhere) it was located in XState (or anywhere else). This patch makes doLayout return a (Maybe (Layout a)) which is treated as the modified version of the Layout if it's not Nothing. This isn't an ideal API, since it relies on the caller of doLayout checking its return value, and acting on it appropriately. But I don't know of a better way to do this, and at least this works. And since we won't have many Layouts in core, it shouldn't be hard to keep core bug-free, and LayoutHelpers has some code for assisting in writing layout modifiers. The really ugly stuff is in Decorations, where we return a Layout modifier and rely on our caller to make use of it. :( It seems like we really need some sort of a Layout monad, but I'm too tired to think more about this just now.
