shiftmask stopped working

Hi, I upgraded my OS from ubuntu hardy to intrepid and shiftMask stopped working in xmonad 0.8. Keybindings like M-p work but M-S-p does nothing or tries to enter 'P' into the window with focus. I'm still using the same keyboard & kbd layout. Emacs doesn't redraw screen after resizing font

Hi, I am using xmonad 0.8 and Gnu Emacs 23.0.60 with the xft font backend. I set the font height of the default face to 10pt in my .emacs but now when I open the application layout is messed up -- I've attached a screenshot. This doesn't happen under GNOME. I can force the screen tro be redrawn by cycling layouts, typing M-SPC until I get back to the original. In emacs, M-x redraw-display does nothing. It seems that emacs opens with the larger default font then resizes it, so I thought if I could set font height in ~/.Xresources it might be in effect before emacs starts, but putting this in my .Xresources has no effect: Emacs.default.attributeHeight:100 I suppose the answer will probably be in emacs not xmonad, so I hope you don't think it's OT. I've asked on a few emacs lists and can't solve it...thanks. Jim

I expected that the tiled window with previous focus (2º one in simpleTabbed layout) receive focus. What do you see instead? On step 3, the 1st window in tabbed layout (master) is wrongly showed, since the user only moved the mouse over a floating window, which should have nothing to do with modifying the tiling layout. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? I using xmonad 0.8.1 and xmonad-contrib 0.8.5 on Debian Squeeze. Please provide any additional information below. This issue can always be reproduced, but not always with the exactly same output. Sometimes it doesn't happen (rarely), anothers the window that keeps being showed wrongly is not the 'master'. Removing border around gkrellm

Hi, is there a way to remove the border around a particular window? In particular, is there a way to use XMonad.Actions.NoBorders.toggleBorder inside a managehook? I'm bad at haskell and xmonad internals and have no idea how to wrap toggleBorder to use inside of: composeAll[ resource =? "gkrellm" --> ... ] I've been simply trying to have the same effect as M.fromList [((modm, xK_g), withFocused toggleBorder)] does, but automatically. Regards, Michał Trybus

how to install xmonad-utils

Hi everybody, A few moments ago, I found out about cabal while trying to install xmonad in fedora10. xmonad is now up and running. Then I tried exploring cabal, and tried installing xmonad-utils using it. Copy/Pate?

I finally gave up on all the bloated wm's out there, and have settled on xmonad after a bit of research and playing around. I'm very happy with it. The machine is a fresh install of archlinux with xmonad started via .xinitrc. It seems like a very silly issue to me, but at the same time, it's fairly frustrating. I'm trying to copy text from one window to another via X's select/middle-click copy/paste. It seems to work fine when dealing with the same window, but when I highlight another window, it either does nothing (if I havn't tried it from that window yet) or it will paste from the same window. Surely there must be an easy way to handle this, but after a bit of research, I can't find anything. What's the easiest way of getting this to work?

float, match by regex?

so in .xmonad/xmonad.hs, I see how i can make a window float, by selecting it's title; however, suppose I wnat a bunch of windows to float, i.e.: "float1" "float2" ... is it possible to instaed of listing out all titles, specify a regex, or a function that goes [Char] -> Bool ? (for deciding whether to float the window or not) thanks!
