XMonad.Actions.Search parsing and a new dep

While adding & pushing a Wiktionary function, I noticed some of the functionality that's been added to XMonad.Actions.Search since I last looked; specifically: intelligent ∷ SearchEngine → SearchEngine intelligent (SearchEngine name site) = searchEngineF name (λs → if (fst $ break (≡ ':') s) `elem` ["http", "https", "ftp"] then s else (site s)) This, I think, is much worse than just using Network.URI.isURI ∷ String → Bool Problem is, Network.URI pulls in a network package dependency. This shouldn't be a problem as it's quite as usually installed as say process or directory, but I thought I'd ask before going ahead and adding it. -- gwern

action of "doFullFloat" upon pressing a key

Dear xmonad users, I wasted several hours trying to find this out myself -- any help is highly appreciated. My xmonad.hs has myManageHook = composeOne [ transience , isFullscreen -?> doFullFloat ] This makes $ xpdf -fullscreen something.pdf display on the whole physical screen. However, it doesn't seem to work with video players like vlc and xine. I would like to have the effect of doFullFloat upon pressing a key. How would one tell xmonad to do that? thank you, Christoph

No comments. Requires the patch to XMonad core discussed previously. 20081019140330: FocusNth improvements fixed by Aleksey Artamonov <aleksey.artamonov(a)gmail.com> http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.haskell.xmonad/6320 Not currently applicable; but this seems to be because of unrelated changes to the FocusNth module. The one comment by Wirt Wolff on it was favorable, and the maintainer has not commented on it for the last 23 weeks (at least). 20090128004726: NoWrap export patch for use with X.L.MessageControl by quentin.moser(a)unifr.ch Adam Vogt remarked 14 April that "These apply cleanly, and seem useful enough." Since noone has objected, and the patch has been extant for quite some time, it applies cleanly/compiles/passes tests, doesn't seem obviously wrong to a layout dunce like myself, and does not affect other modules, I have taken it upon myself to push this into the main XMC repo. EWMH Desktops and Ubuntu Karmic/Gnome 2.27.5

Hi, After upgrading to Karmic, which has Gnome 2.27.5, the Gnome Workspace Switcher applet only shows a single workspace. All 9 workspaces still exist, and when you switch to a different workspace, the applet switches, and displays the current workspace correctly - it's just that we only see the one workspace. sjanssen spent some time with me last night poking at this, and recommended I post to the mailing list. Attached are some xprop readouts he asked for: xprop -root for compiz with 2 desktops, metacity with 2 desktops, and metacity with 9 desktops. I'd think it was just something broken with Karmic, as it's being worked on - but since the workspace applet works correctly under compiz and metacity, I have a feeling that the changes are on purpose, and would like to bring it to your attention. One additional tidbit of info that may or may not have any bearing - after I changed the number of desktops under metacity to get the xprop reading, when i attempted to go back to xmonad using .gnomerc, xmonad would not start. I had to delete my .gconf directory to get things to work again. I'm happy to be of any assistance I can in providing further information. rupa/[31d1]

I already use escape, to go to the "else" part of my script,that is to say the script named "actions" which goal is similar to your yeganesh,It is as "lsd", a simple script.ls parse a folder with only symbolic linksto my most used programs and scriptsand pipes to dmenu. For the autocompletion, I meant the one which can be used in XMonad,for example with : { autoComplete = Just 100000 } in the ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hswith which, when only one result from the list is still matching, the actionis automaticly executed. I've paste this script only to explain what I meant in my first message,which is more xmonad related : When I use the XMonad.Prompt.Directoryto dive in subdirectories, how could it calls itself until I send an Escape message,It might be a single haskell line in the XMonad/Prompt/Directory.hs filefrom the xmonad-contrib source but I've no clue :(

Hello, all is said in the subject, I use use the changeDir prompt with the autocompletion,which is already an handy feature :) I wander what I should add in XMonad/Prompt/Directory.hs to make the changeDir prompt call itself on sucess after the autocompletion.I'm not a programmer so the ideas aren't springing on my keyboard for such questions.All that I've tried result in errors in building.
