It is easy to get windows messed up. A window which should show on main screen can jump to another screen. What version of the product are you using? GroupNavigation build error

Hi, I'm getting build errors in the new GroupNavigation module when compiling xmonad-contrib. This is with the latest xmonad and xmonad-contrib darcs checkout (via the darcs ebuilds on Gentoo), with GHC 6.10.4. (If I've missed any other relevant information, please let me know.) Is this a problem with my GHC version, or my installation of some haskell library, or is it a bug in GroupNavigation? I've included the output of the build process below. New module XMonad.Actions.GroupNavigation

Hi folks: I submitted a patch introducing this new module before, but Adam had some excellent suggestions on how to improve it. I've taken those into account. So here's a new patch adding this module to XMonadContrib sporting a leaner API and a more efficient implementation of all operations. Cheers, Norbert

XMonad 0.8.1 from Ubuntu 9.10 repo. Please provide any additional information below. RunOrRaise works well with other applications. This bug may be related to 343. GridSelect patch

The attached patch modifies XMonad.Actions.GridSelect to support running the 'gsmenu' program (which is on Hackage) instead of the built-in stuff. The external API is unmodified (and I had to make a few ugly-ish hacks to keep it that way) and the default settings are completely unchanged. When using the external gsmenu, all options (except for key bindings) are still accepted. -- \ Troels /\ Henriksen

The first set of functions simply allows the cyclic forward/backward traversal of the list of windows in a group, possibly performing a custom action if the group is empty. The second set of functions adds a facility to keep track of the focus history of all windows and uses this history to allow jumping to the most recent window in a given group.

Smarter multi-screen layouts (ab)using XRandR

Hi, I always found it irritating how xmonad behaves with more than one screen, especially how workspace switching on one screen is “non local”, i.e. affects other screens. to clarify with two screens: A B [3][1] (focus on B) Press NextWorkspace [3][2] (focus on B) Press NextWorkspace [2][3] (focus on B) I would naively expect the last configuration to be [3][3] (focus on B) which is of course not possible. Or is it? Assume for now that both screens have the same resolution. Imagine that xmonad would transparently make screen B cover the same part of the virtual screen size as A, while the situation is [3][3] (focus on B) and move it back to its original position when moving on to [3][4] (focus on B). Wouldn’t this be much more intuitive? And it is not only about intuitiveness, but also very useful. When holding presentations, I tend to use a tool like pdf_presenter_console and therefore, my laptop screen (A) and the projector screen (B) display different workspaces. But when I then want to demonstrate something live, I’d like to have the same workspace on both. This is just a discussion starter. I have no code, and not solved all corner cases. stupid newbie question about `removeKeysP`

Hi, I'm slowly going nuts here.
