Full-screen for Google Chrome

Currently, Google Chrome won't go full-screen for me in xmonad, although it will in metacity. Pressing F11 has no effect. Based on this http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=42467 I think that this http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=339 is the relevant issue. Is the code in there what I need? If I figure out the appropriate bits to copy into my xmonad.hs file will it let me full-screen Chrome? Are there any other issues with it?

Set focusFollowsMouse = True in your ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs. 2. Run: unclutter -root -idle 1 (this hides the mouse pointer after 1 second of idleness) 3. Open at least two windows on the current workspace. 4. Put your mouse pointer on the border of the focused window. 5. Try to change focus to another window. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The focus changes for an estimated millisecond as expected, then it switches back immediately. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? xmonad 0.9.1-2+b1 from the Debian repo. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". Yes, I am, but there is no output. Please provide any additional information below. This only happens when the mouse pointer is invisible, so i suppose unclutter is doing something stupid and this is not xmonad’s fault? Is it possible to move the mouse pointer to the corner of the screen after a certain period of mouse idleness?

X consuming a lot of CPU

Every now and then I find that Xorg suddenly uses a lot of CPU for a while, making xmonad non-responsive. In general, this seems to be a fault of either Firefox or Emacs (in that xrestop says Firefox is using the most responses but for me it usually becomes unresponsive whilst I'm using Emacs). As of today, xorg has been using at least 60% of my CPU most of the time, making xmonad very non-responsive. I was thinking that the issue was with xmonad, especially when I subsequently booted into KDE and had no problems. However, that seems to not be the case: the problem was my terminal emulator (I realised this when I noticed that the most CPU usage was occurrring whilst looking at the top output in my terminal). I'm normally use Xfce's Terminal [1], and it seems that it seems to be the cause of the problems: when I switched to xterm, my problems all disappeared (and when I was in KDE, I was using Konsole, not Terminal). [1]: http://www.xfce.org/projects/terminal I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has similar problems and uses another vte-based terminal emulator (such as Gnome's terminal); more specifically, if using a different terminal emulator solves their problem. Profiling XMonad

Hello, I'm trying to allow RGB images as buttons in XMonad. It's alreasy working, but now XMonad leaks a lot of memory (each time you change focus about 1 or 2 megabytes are taken from memory), so when a little time passes, it becomes unusable. I'd like to ask for help profiling or with any other thing that may help me solve this problem. As of now, I'm saving the images as String. Then, using Foreign.C.String.newCAString, I convert it to a CString, which is what Xlib expects. After that, I create a Image using XCreateImage, which I paint using XPutImage. Finally, I call XDestroyImage to free the memory. So, as far as I know, no leak should be possible :( Thanks in advance.

Bluetile backport

Hi there! Just wanted to quickly let you know: With the fair number of outstanding patches and a possible repository migration still to do, it seems like a next xmonad release is still a little bit in the future. So I worked on a temporary solution for the meantime and managed to backport Bluetile to work with the xmonad release 0.9.1. So this makes packaging possible/much easier now and Joachim actually already created a package for Debian. I'm excited to see how this can help the Bluetile effort. Thx Joachim! :-) Regards, Jan

Problem with popup menus in java application

Hi, I switched to xmonad, but since then I can't access the menus in JDownloader. The symptoms: I click on the File menu (or right click on a package to bring up the context menu), the menu appears, but as soon as I release the mouse button, the menu disappears, so I can't select anything. If I hold down the mouse button, and use the arrow keys + Enter, it works, but that's rather cumbersome. I already tried _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1 with OpenJDK and startupHook = setWMName "LG3D" with the Sun JRE. Any tips to solve this? Thanks.

Segmentation fault when accidentally decorating a tabbed layout

I'm using MultiToggle so that I can press WIN+D to toggle on window decorations when I need to tell similar windows apart. However, I've found that this causes a segmentation fault whenever I use it on a tabbed layout. I assume this is because it's already decorated? I know it may not make much sense to decorate it twice, but I don't think it should segfault when I do this. I've tried to get updated versions from darcs, but I don't really understand how all the dependencies work, so I probably did something wrong. I'm running Ubuntu and I believe I installed GHC using apt-get. I can't remember how I originally installed Cabal, but I did "cabal install X11" and so on to install the dependencies listed in the readme. I synced up xmonad and XMonadContrib from darcs today and rebuilt them and installed them using the "--user" option. The crashes still happen. What should I do next? In terms of experience my Haskell is pretty limited, and my knowledge of package management in Haskell is next to zero. I know my way around a command-line so I hope I'll be able to follow any instructions without too much trouble, but I might need things spelled out for me, particularly if it involves editing (or explaining!) my xmonad.hs file. My xmonad.hs file is attached.
