As someone new to Xmonad and Haskell, the "sufficient" workaround is not simple at all: - delete all of the default keybindings - add a single keybinding for your desired prefix key that activates a submap - add all the desired keybindings to your submap I wouldn't know how to start with implementing that. I even tried the "extra user-friendly" BlueTile alternative. Deactivate hotkeys

Hey, I would like to be able to dynamically deactivate some of xmonad's hotkeys. Since keybindings are immutable, I tried to write an action which passes the key to the focused window if the hotkey is disabled. The best I could do is this: myKeys conf@(XConfig {XMonad.modMask = modm}) = M.fromList $ ... ( (controlMask , xK_o ), foo ) ... foo = do -- check if the hotkey is disabled. If yes, do: XConf { display = dpy, theRoot = rootw } <- ask io $ ungrabKey dpy anyKey anyModifier rootw spawn "xdotool key o" This more or less works for firefox, except that when I switch to my firefox- workspace, I first have to click into the window. In KDE applications like kmail this does work at all. Any ideas, why? There was once a patch which tried to solve the problem by moving keyActions to XState. (http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/xmonad/2008-July/006063.html) It seems, it never made it into xmonad, although this might be the best solution. Thanks, Stephan

rxvt-unicode terrible slow on second and third screen

Hi, I don't know if this is related to xmonad, but it's worth a try :) I use the rxvt terminal. On the primary monitor it works fine, but on the second and third monitor it lags like hell. When I press tab for tab completion it takes sometime 1-2 sec. to complete, where the same thing takes no time at the primary monitor. Does anybody has the same problem with xmonad? I used xterm before and I think that there were not such an issue with xterm. My config: kernel: 2.6.37-rc4 xmonad: xmonad-0.9.1 xmonad-contrib: 0.9.1 I think that problem could be connected with one of these 3 poss.: - graphic driver: I'm using the open source radeon driver - rxvt: I don't think that it is rxvt related. Rxvt shouldn't do any difference on which monitor it is used. - xmonad: Xmonad is what provided the 3 workspaces which I see at the same time. Thats why I think that is is realted to xmonad. Make cursor bigger

Dear Folks, I know that xmonad doesn't directly control the cursor, but I often have trouble finding mine. Any suggestions on what I can do?
