rearranging drag and drop toolbars (eg: inkscape)

Is there a trick to rearranging drag and drop toolbars on apps in xmonad? I use inkscape quite a lot, and it recently moved one of the basic toolbars from the top of the window to the right side (during a screen resolution change), and I can't figure out how to get it back. Generally, I'd just grab the handle on the toolbar, and drag it up to the general area it should go, and it would snap into place. However, as soon as I drag the handle, the toolbar becomes another tiled window, which snaps into an xmonad layout. I /can/ drag the window around by the internal gtk handle, but it doesn't snap back into the application unless I close the window that was created when I dragged the toolbar out of inkscape -- when I do that, it returns to the original location in inkscape (on the right side). Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks! Rogan

Ignore single window for focus follows mouse?

The FAQ mentions you can set focusFollowsMouse to false to disable it completely, but I'd like to disable focus following the mouse only when moving the mouse over a particular window (the pointer going over any other window should still cause that window to get focus). Is there an easy way to do that?

Problem with maximize on a 3 display setup

Hello I have three displays. A center display at 2560x1440 and a portrait display on each side at 1200x1920 I use xinerama and seperate xorg screen configurations. Almost everything works great, I can mouse around my displays, move windows between them, size between them. My xmobar is correctly on the bottom of each one. However when I maximize a window, xmonad only correctly maximizes on the left and center display. On the far right display it only maximizes to the first 1423 pixels and leaves the rest below blank. I can still size a window to the full height, and my xmobar is still on the very bottom and my wallpaper goes the whole way up. It's just maximized windows when handled by xmonad it doesn't think the monitor is taller. I asked for help on IRC and someone felt that it probably had something to do with struts not being calculated correctly or something. That some how maybe my xmonad was using some measurements from the middle monitor for the right monitor. I was using some older xmonad and xmobar versions, but as of Dec 3rd I updated latest xmonad from darcs (http://code.haskell.org/xmonad) and the latest xmobar from GIT (https://github.com/jaor/xmobar) Updating to the latest had no effect. Reminder: update your Config Archive!

With 0.10 solidly released, now is an excellent time for all XMonad users to update the copy of their config on the Haskell wiki: http://haskell.org/haskellwiki/Xmonad/Config_archive Version numbers need to be bumped, etc. For those wondering why, I'd point out that the config archive is downloadable via a script and I and others have used it in the past to look into what functions to add where and how to deal with changes in modules; and further, the config archive is a valuable resource for newbies trying to understand the options on offer and looking to crib code. -- gwern http://www.gwern.net

XMonad.Prompt.Ssh

Hi, I really like the idea of being able to open ssh sessions straight from xmonad. Somehow, it doesn't work and I don't understand. Here's relevant part of the configuration: import XMonad.Prompt import XMonad.Prompt.Ssh .... myXPConfig = defaultXPConfig .... , ((mod4Mask .|. shiftMask, xK_s), sshPrompt myXPConfig) So when I hit mod4Mask, shift and s it starts correctly the "Ssh to:" prompt. At this point I enter the host name, and hit enter, and nothing happens... I guess it should open a terminal with a session to the host I just entered, but it doesn't (there are no other windows with shells into that machine). Advice? Ideas? What am I doing wrong? X.L.MouseResizableTile DraggerType=BordersDragger doesn't have any effect

Here is my xmonad.hs file: http://hpaste.org/54715 >From my understanding tiled = mouseResizableTile { draggerType = BordersDragger } Should disable the borders. It doesn't have any effect, otherwise, xmonad and X.L.MouseResizableTile perform as they should. Is it my fault or is it a bug? Thanks, -- Aram Hăvărneanu
