Carriage returns in a .cabal file
by Clifford Beshers 28 Sep '08

28 Sep '08

The stb-image package on hackage has carriage returns (^M) at the end of some lines. This confused hlibrary.mk from the Debian haskell-devscripts. Are these characters legal in a .cabal file? I haven't found any mention of valid line terminators. If not, then I'll work with the author of stb-image, otherwise I'll fix the Debian tool.

#360: Cabal 1.4.0.2 won't configure on Windows Vista ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Reporter: guest | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: Cabal library | Version: Severity: normal | Keywords: Difficulty: normal | Ghcversion: 6.8.3 Platform: Windows | ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Running Windows Vista, I get a link error with the latest Cabal: C:\Users\Justin\Source\Cabal-1.4.0.2>ghc --version The Glorious Glasgow Haskell Compilation System, version 6.8.3 C:\Users\Justin\Source\Cabal-1.4.0.2>runhaskell Setup.hs configure During interactive linking, GHCi couldn't find the following symbol: SHGetFolderPathA@20 This may be due to you not asking GHCi to load extra object files, archives or DLLs needed by your current session. Restart GHCi, specifying the missing library using the -L/path/to/object/dir and -lmissinglibname flags, or simply by naming the relevant files on the GHCi command line. Alternatively, this link failure might indicate a bug in GHCi. [Hackage] #357: small improvements to bootstrap

#357: small improvements to bootstrap ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Reporter: brian0 | Owner: Type: defect | Status: new Priority: low | Milestone: Component: cabal-install tool | Version: 1.2.3.0 Severity: minor | Keywords: Difficulty: very easy (<1 hour) | Ghcversion: 6.8.2 Platform: | ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Attached is a darcs patch to bootstrap.sh. I should darcs send, but can't right now. I added -c to wget. This prevents wget from downloading an archive again and naming it whatever.1, whatever.2, etc. curl redownloads, but overwrites the original. I think I improved some messages. Instead of saying "if all went well, cabal should be in ...", I check whether cabal exists where it should be. -- Ticket URL: <http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/hackage/ticket/357> Hackage <http://haskell.org/cabal/> Hackage: Cabal and related projects

"ghc-pkg list" states i have both "Cabal-1.2.4.0" and "Cabal-1.4.0.1" installed. The configuration ("runghc Setup.lhs configure") fails with the following message: {{{ Warning: grapefruit-frp.cabal: This package requires Cabal version: >=1.2 && <1.3 Configuring grapefruit-frp-0.0.0.0... Error: This package requires Cabal version: >=1.2 && <1.3 }}} After "ghc-pkg unregister Cabal-1.4.0.1" everything works.
