[apologies for multiple copies] 32nd International Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming ICALP 2005 Lisbon, Portugal Call for Affiliated Workshops http://icalp05.di.fct.unl.pt/wscall.html Conference Dates: July 11-15, 2005 Affiliated Workshop Dates: July 09, 10, 16, and 17, 2005 Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for workshops on topics related to tracks of the conference, namely, on Algorithms, Automata, Complexity and Games (A), on Logic, Semantics, and Theory of Programming (B), and on this year special track on Security and Cryptography Foundations (C). The purpose of the workshops is to provide participants a forum for presenting novel ideas, and to discuss in a small and interactive atmosphere. The main responsibility of organising a workshop goes to the chairperson of the workshop. The format of each workshop is to be determined by its organisers The workshop proposals will be selected by the organization, under advice of the ICALP PC chairs and EATCS. Proposals should include: * The name and the duration (from half a day to two days) of the proposed workshop. * A short scientific summary of the topic, including a discussion on the relation with the ICALP topics. * A description of past versions of the workshop, including dates, organisers, submission and acceptance counts, attendance. * Procedures for selecting participants and papers, and expected number of participants. * Plans for dissemination (for example, published proceedings or special issues of journals). REMINDER: Contributions to the HC&A Report (November 2004 edition)

Dear Haskellers, the deadline for the November 2004 edition of the Haskell Communities and Activities is approaching quickly -- but there are still a few days left to make sure that the report contains a section on *your* project, on the interesting stuff that you've been doing, using or affecting Haskell in some way. In particular, any information regarding upcoming, Haskell-related, events is highly appreciated (conferences, workshops, summer schools ...). Many FP research groups have not yet updated their reports. Furthermore, please have a look at http://haskell.org/topics.html * Is your project listed, but not yet updated? Please write a short update! * Is a project listed that you are no longer working on? Write up what you are working on instead, and tell me if someone else has picked up the project. * Is something you have heard about not in the list? Please let me know ... There is still time to write a completely new entry, on a new compiler, tool, library, company, user group, idea, ... -- as long as there is a connection to the Haskell language, there is a place for it in the report! This report details the progress made from appointment of the committee in January, 2004, through its meetings at ICFP in September, 2004. Call for organizers: The Advanced Functional Programming School, 2006 http://www.cs.uu.nl/~johanj/afp/ We solicit plans for organizing the next Advanced Functional Programming School. Since 1995 there have been five Schools on Advanced Functional Programming in * 2004, Tartu, Estonia * 2002, LNCS 2638, Oxford, UK * 1998, LNCS 1608, Braga, Portugal * 1996, LNCS 1129, Olympia, WA, USA * 1995, LNCS 925, Baastad, Sweden ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The goals of this series of schools are: * Bring computer scientists, in particular young researchers and programmers, up to date with the latest afp techniques. * Use afp techniques in "programming in the real world". Bridge the gap between results presented at programming conferences and material from introductory textbooks on functional programming. The approach we take to achieve these goals in the schools is * In depth lectures about afp techniques, taught by experts in the field. * Lectures are accompanied by practical problems to be solved by the students at the school. The problems guide the students' learning to a great extent. This implies that there has to be a lab at the school site. * Group work is stimulated, especially because the practical problems will typically be too large for a single person. By functional programming we mean programming in a style that emphasizes the evaluation of expressions rather than the execution of commands. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The lecture notes of the Advanced Functional Programming schools are published after the school, see LNCS 925, 1129, 1608, and 2638. The organizers are responsible for publishing the lecture notes. Please submit a proposal for organizing the next advanced functional programming school. Your proposal should include: - the name of the organizers (preferably more than one) - a programme: lecturers (a mix of young and bright, and old and wise lecturers is preferred) and topics (keep in mind that lectures have to be about "programming in the real world". Applications of functional programming are vey important for the school) - a location (remember you need around 25 computers) - a budget, including an estimation of the registration and hotel costs per participant. The programme, location and budget don't have to be completely fixed when you submit your proposal, but there should be sufficient information to review your proposal. Hey, For the last two weeks I've been playing around with the idea of a package listing page to replace (or coexists with) the current library page [1]. After some experimenting with different approaches, I've found that a Halipeto [2] like template system together with HaskellDB [3] would be acceptable. Then, after some hacking, the idea came to life in the form of Hackage [4], which currently supports adding, updating and searching based on Cabal description files. But my time is limited and it would be great if someone would tweak it into something useable. Last Call for Papers for "Methods for Modalities" A Special Issue of the Journal of Applied Logic (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/15708683) The workshop `Methods for Modalities' (M4M) organized every two years aims to bring together researchers interested in developing proof tools and decision methods for modal logic broadly conceived, including description logic, hybrid logic, temporal logic, etc. During 2003 M4M-3, the third instance of the workshop was organized in Nancy, France. We have been invited by the Journal of Applied Logic to prepare a Special Issue containing selected publications from the workshop, in addition to other articles that might fit within the topics of interest of M4M. For that reason we are now distributing this Call for Papers. TOPICS OF INTEREST OF M4M The following list is provided as an example of suitable topics for the Special Issue. All topics should concern modal-like logics, broadly conceived. The list is by no means exhaustive and is given in an arbitrary order: * Automated theorem proving * Decision methods * Proof methods * Standard and non-standard inference problems * Model checking * Testing * Expressive power * Modelling * Applications * Successful uses of modal-like languages in other fields * Knowledge representation SUBMISSION DETAILS The final version of accepted papers has to follow the standard layout guidelines of the Journal of Applied Logic. Instructions for authors and the latex style files are available from http://staff.science.uva.nl/~m4m/SI/ Although not mandatory, we suggest to use the corresponding style files from that web-page also for your initial submission. Haskell implementation of infixr and infixl/priorities

Hi, I´m progarmming a parser for functional programs. Now I want to implement the infixL and infixR feature to increase the readability of the code. I would be very glad if anyone can send me some information about the implementation of this feature of the Haskell parser or where I can find something about it.
