The University area amounts to around 200 hectares, and is organized in 14 departments and 13 interdepartmental centers, with around 170 classrooms frequented by more than 14,500 persons. The University provides 77 degree courses and 2 specialization schools, and owns the largest library in Southern Italy, with more than 390,000 volumes and 660 workstations. The Residential Center of the University has around 3,000 beds and 1,300 canteen seats, and serves more than 3,500 meals per day. The Art Music Entertainment Center organizes more than 30 events per year, including concerts, film festivals, and theater. The Sport Center offers more than 25 courses. ASP was found to be closely related to SAT, which led to a new method of computing answer sets using SAT solvers and techniques adapted from SAT. This has been a much studied relationship, and is currently extended towards satisfiability modulo theories (SMT). The relationship of ASP to other computing paradigms, such as constraint satisfaction, quantified Boolean formulas (QBF), Constraint Logic Programming (CLP), first-order logic (FOL), and FO(ID) is also the subject of active research. Consequently, new methods of computing answer sets are being developed based on relationships to these formalisms. The practical applications of ASP also foster work on multi-paradigm problem-solving, and in particular language and solver integration. The most prominent examples in this area currently are the integration of ASP with description logics (in the realm of the Semantic Web) and constraint satisfaction (which recently led to the Constraint Answer Set Programming (CASP) research direction). Furthermore, significant research effort is being devoted to delivering ASP-based solutions to real-world problems and end-users. This includes the development of visualization and explanation tools, which are becoming increasingly important for the acceptance of ASP in practice. A large body of general results regarding ASP is available and several efficient ASP solvers have been implemented. However, there are still significant challenges in applying ASP to real life applications, and more interest in relating ASP to other computing paradigms is emerging. IFL 2025 will be a venue for researchers to present and discuss new ideas and concepts, work in progress, and publication-ripe results related to the implementation and application of functional languages and function-based programming. ### Topics of interest Topics of interest to IFL include, but are not limited to: - language concepts - type systems, type checking, type inferencing - compilation techniques - staged compilation - run-time function specialisation - run-time code generation - partial evaluation - (abstract) interpretation - meta-programming - generic programming - automatic program generation - array processing - concurrent/parallel programming - concurrent/parallel program execution - embedded systems - web applications - (embedded) domain specific languages - security - novel memory management techniques - run-time profiling performance measurements - debugging and tracing - virtual/abstract machine architectures - validation, verification of functional programs - tools and programming techniques ### Peer-review process Differently from previous editions of IFL, IFL 2025 solicits two kinds of submissions: * Regular papers (12 pages excluding references) * Draft papers for presentations ('weak' limit between 8 and 15 pages) Regular papers will undergo a rigorous review by the program committee, and will be evaluated according to their correctness, novelty, originality, relevance, significance, and clarity. Regular papers can be: accepted for publication in the formal proceedings, accepted for presentation at the symposium or rejected. Draft papers will be screened to make sure that they are within the scope of IFL, and will be accepted for presentation or rejected accordingly. We require that at least one of the authors present the work at IFL 2025. Authors of accepted presentations will be given the opportunity to incorporate the feedback from discussions at the symposium and will be invited to submit a revised full article for the formal post-proceedings after the symposium. The applicant can indicate the type of support he needs. AIJ offers multiple grants, which will be provided as direct discounts on conference services. AixIA offers two grants, up to 400 EUR each, which will be provided via reimbursement handled by the association after the conference. Regular papers can be: accepted for publication in the formal proceedings, accepted for presentation at the symposium or rejected. Draft papers will be screened to make sure that they are within the scope of IFL, and will be accepted for presentation or rejected accordingly. We require that at least one of the authors present the work at IFL 2025. Authors of accepted presentations will be given the opportunity to incorporate the feedback from discussions at the symposium and will be invited to submit a revised full article for the formal post-proceedings after the symposium.
