Hello! I am pleased to announce the launch of clckwrks.com. clckwrks (pronounced, 'clockworks') is a new Haskell-based content management (CMS) and blogging framework: http://www.clckwrks.com/ It is freely available under the BSD3 license. clckwrks is still in early alpha development. We are looking for developers who want to contribute or just like to try bleeding edge software. clckwrks is already being used to power happstack.com and clckwrks.com -- so it is already useful. There are a lot of things we are not happy with yet ranging from code formatting to design issues. But, at the same time, there are a lot of things we are very happy with. The distribution includes space and time profiling facilities, a large collection of libraries, and support for various language extensions, including concurrency, exceptions, and foreign language interfaces (C, whatever). Background The 35th IEEE Software Engineering Workshop, the longest continually running Software Engineering event in the world, will be held in Heraclion, Crete, collocated with ISoLA 2012. Scope The workshop aims to bring together all those with an interest in software engineering. Traditionally, the conference attracts industrial and government practitioners and academics pursuing the advancement of software engineering principles and techniques. KURE 2.0.0 is now available on Hackage. This is a substantial redesign of the previous versions of KURE. Comments or feature requests are welcome. About KURE ---------- The Kansas University Rewrite Engine (KURE) is a DSL for strategic rewriting. KURE shares concepts with Stratego, but unlike Stratego, KURE is strongly typed. KURE is similar to StrategyLib, but has a lightweight generic traversal mechanism using type families rather than SYB. KURE is the engine inside HERMIT, our Equational Rewrite Framework. It has strong links with mathematics, algebra, and logic, and it is the basis of well-known programming paradigms like functional and equational programming, which are taught at the universitary level in many countries. In these programming paradigms and corresponding languages, the notions of reduction, pattern matching, confluence, termination, strategy, etc., are essential. Rewriting provides a solid framework for understanding, using, and teaching all these notions. Rewriting techniques are also used in many other areas of software engineering (scripting, prototyping, automated transformation of legacy systems, refactoring, web services, etc.) and are implemented in popular systems like Mathematica, Autocad, and others. Rewriting techniques play a relevant role in computing research, education, and industry. The International School on Rewriting is promoted by the IFIP Working Group 1.6 Term Rewriting. Hi all. I installed ghc-7.4.1 and haskell-platform-2.12.2.0.0 on debian linux. Call For Papers for HASE 2012

(We apologize if you have received multiple copies of this CFP) Dear Colleague We would like to invite you to submit papers to The 14th IEEE International Symposium on High Assurance Systems Engineering (HASE 2012), to be held at Omaha NE. October 25-27. HASE 2012 is a forum on tools and techniques used to design and construct systems that, in addition to meeting their functional objectives, are safe, secure, and reliable. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: SCADA systems and other critical infrastructures, cyber-physical systems, cloud computing, distributed systems, web services, embedded systems, emergent behavior, fault tolerance, simulation, monitoring, model-driven engineering, synthesis, formal methods, domain-specific languages, evolution and change, verification and validation, software analysis and visualization, tools, transformation-based development, security , as well as case studies and experiments. The following types of submissions are solicited: Research Papers HASE 2012 is soliciting original, unpublished research papers. The length is limited to eight pages, in IEEE style. Short submissions of a few paragraphs are quite welcome! ------------------------------------------------------------------- FINAL CALL FOR TALK PROPOSALS HOPE 2012 The 1st ACM SIGPLAN Workshop on Higher-Order Programming with Effects September 9, 2012 Copenhagen, Denmark (the day before ICFP 2012) http://hope2012.mpi-sws.org HOPE is a *new workshop* that is intended to bring together researchers interested in the design, semantics, implementation, and verification of higher-order effectful programs. It will be *informal*, consisting of invited talks, contributed talks on work in progress, and open-ended discussion sessions. This 1st edition of HOPE is dedicated to John Reynolds, whose work is an inspiration to us all. --------------------- Goals of the Workshop --------------------- A recurring theme in many papers at ICFP, and in the research of many ICFP attendees, is the interaction of higher-order programming with various kinds of effects: storage effects, I/O, control effects, concurrency, etc. While effects are of critical importance in many applications, they also make it hard to build, maintain, and reason about one's code. Higher-order languages (both functional and object-oriented) provide a variety of abstraction mechanisms to help "tame" or "encapsulate" effects (e.g. monads, ADTs, ownership types, typestate, first-class events, transactions, Hoare Type Theory, session types, substructural and region-based type systems), and a number of different semantic models and verification technologies have been developed in order to codify and exploit the benefits of this encapsulation (e.g. bisimulations, step-indexed Kripke logical relations, higher-order separation logic, game semantics, various modal logics). But there remain many open problems, and the field is highly active. The goal of the HOPE workshop is to bring researchers from a variety of different backgrounds and perspectives together to exchange new and exciting ideas concerning the design, semantics, implementation, and verification of higher-order effectful programs. We want HOPE to be as informal and interactive as possible. The program will thus involve a combination of invited talks, contributed talks about work in progress, and open-ended discussion sessions. There will be no published proceedings, but participants will be invited to submit working documents, talk slides, etc. to be posted on this website. ----------------------- Call for Talk Proposals ----------------------- We solicit proposals for contributed talks. Proposals should be at most 2 pages, in either plain text or PDF format, and should specify how long a talk the speaker wishes to give. By default, contributed talks will be 30 minutes long, but proposals for shorter or longer talks will also be considered. Speakers may also submit supplementary material (e.g. a full paper, talk slides) if they desire, which PC members are free (but not expected) to read. We are interested in talks on all topics related to the interaction of higher-order programming and computational effects. Talks about work in progress are particularly encouraged.
