(Apologies for multiple postings) ============================================================ IFL 2002 14th International Workshop on the IMPLEMENTATION OF FUNCTIONAL LANGUAGES Madrid Spain September 16 - 18, 2002 ============================================================= Important dates --------------- Registration deadline: July 30th, 2002 Submission deadline : August 26th, 2002 further details : http://dalila.sip.ucm.es/ifl02 ============================================================= Scope of IFL 2002 ----------------- The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers and users actively engaged in the implementation and application of functional programming languages to discuss results and new directions of research. The workshop is intended to provide an open forum for researchers who wish to present and discuss new ideas and concepts, work in progress, preliminary results etc. related primarily but not exclusively to the implementation of functional or function-based languages. A not necessarily exhaustive list of topics includes language concepts type checking compilation techniques (abstract) interpretation automatic program generation (abstract) machine architectures array processing concurrent/parallel programming and program execution heap management runtime profiling and performance measurements debugging and tracing verification of functional programs tools and programming techniques Contributions on applications of functional programming, e.g., in teaching, or on theoretical work in any of the above areas are also welcome. Contributions ------------- All attendees are encouraged to submit papers to be published in the draft proceedings and to give presentations at the workshop. Submitted papers must be written in English, conform to the LNCS format (available at: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html) and not exceed 16 pages. Papers should be submitted by August 26th as postscript or pdf files using the submission page of the workshop accessible through http://dalila.sip.ucm.es/ifl02. After the workshop, we intend to publish a high-quality subset of contributions in the Springer LNCS series. All speakers attending the workshop are invited to submit a paper. error running winhugs

Hi, I recently installed winhugs on windows XP platform, and found that when I ran the program from the winhugs shortcut that I created (or even winhugs icon for that matter) I got the following error messages: A dialog box saying: "FATAL ERROR : unable to load prelude" and in the background was an attempt to open the winhugs program with the message (in Red) of: ERROR: Illegal character escape sequence "\ W" " In trying to rectify this I am attempting to change the compatibility that is set with the "-98" command but have no idea where or how to do this. Just out of the blue.... How hard would it be to port hslibs/posix to hugs? IMHO it would be really nice to have it available in hugs under unix. Jens

Hugs98 PowerToys

For people that want to tweak their Hugs98 installation, have a look at the Hugs98 PowerToys page: http://www.galois.com/~sof/hugs/PowerToys.html It's got a collection of utilities (well, just one, for now ;-) for tweaking your Hugs98 setup on a Windows box. If nothing else, that sample app shows you how to use the Win32 library to access the Registry. Enjoy, --sigbjorn

Updated Mandrake RPM

Thanks to the hard work of Pixel pixel(a)mandrakesoft.com, a version of the Mandrake Linux RPM for Hugs98 (Dec 2001) is now available via the 'cooker': http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/cooker/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/hugs98-200112 15-2mdk.i586.html (alpha and ppc versions are also available). Kudos to Pixel for packaging up Hugs (and GHC) for Mandrake, making Haskell readily available to Mandrake users (=> included on Mandrake distribution CDs etc.) Great stuff -- Haskell for the masses! :-) --sigbjorn

IArray module supported?

Hi! I followed the link from "Hugs98Dez2001/docs/hugsman/hugs.html#$HugsGHClibs" and the closest thing I could found was "hslibs". "Hslibs" entails under "lang" the module "IArray". Is this module supported in Hugs, if not will it be supported in the not too distant future? Thanksfor any comments, Andreas
