However, they should float ideally. Similarly, krunner is managed like a dock and is thus unable to receive keyboald input apparently, rendering it pretty useless. I have made a small fix in my xmonad.hs config, but I really think that this should be the default behaviour kde4Config. Attachments: xmonad.hs 606 bytes

how to log out of xmonad?

I just installed xmonad for the first time today, considering switching to it from gnome. I'm logged into an xmonad session. How do I log out of xmonad and get back to GDM?

prevent stalone tray from overlapping

I'm setting up xmonad for the first time. I've setup stalonetray to hold nm-applet. I start both in my .xinitrc. Right now stalonetray overlaps my other windows. Is there some way to give trays a dedicated section at the top of the screen? I was reading online that something called "struts hints" are supposed to do that. Supposedly stalonetray supports these; however, it still ends up overlapping. Do I need to do some xmonad configuration to get it to recognize that stalone tray wants its own section of the screen? Right now I'm mostly just using the default xmonad config. The other issue I'm running into is that as I switch focus between windows using mod-j mod-k, stalonetray also receives focus. I'd rather focus skipped over stalonetray. Is there someway to tell xmonad to not focus a particular window with mod-j and mod-k? Thanks, Brendan

Hey all, I just started trying xmonad out, and I really ilke it. I've used ratpoison in the past but eventually gave it up. xmonad seems to work better for me so far. I realize this is a xmobar question, but I am guessing there are people on this list that uses xmobar also. I have a .xmobarrc which looks like follows: <snip> Config { font = "-*-Fixed-Bold-R-Normal-*-13-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" , bgColor = "black" , fgColor = "grey" , position = TopW L 100 , lowerOnStart = True , commands = [ Run Cpu ["-L","3","-H","50","--normal","green","--high","red"] 10 , Run Memory ["-t","Mem: <usedratio>%"] 10 , Run Swap [] 10 , Run Date "%a %b %_d %l:%M" "date" 10 , Run Com "uname" ["-s","-r"] "blaj" 36000 , Run StdinReader ] , sepChar = "%" , alignSep = "}{" , template = "%StdinReader% }{ %blaj% %cpu% | %memory% * %swap% <fc=#ee9a00>%date%</fc>" } </snip> ...and in ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs I have: <snip> ... xmproc <- spawnPipe "/usr/bin/xmobar /home/jcx/.xmobarrc" ... </snip> All I get is "updating..." where %StdinReader% is placed. Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 427 by moreil...(a)gmail.com: xmonad should recompile configuration on SIGHUP http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=427 in unix it's common convention for long-lived processes to re-read configuration and restart on receiving a HUP signal. to my surprise xmonad does not follows this.
