What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Configure withIM layout to match a window title with UTF8 chars as roster. Ex: withIM (1%7) (Title "foo™") (Tall 1 0.5 0.5) 2. Run a window with the configured name. Ex: xterm -T "foo™" -e read What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The window should be placed as withIM layout roster. In this case, on a separated column to the left. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Latest XMonad Darcs on Arch X86_64. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". No output from xmonad --recompile. Please provide any additional information below. Comments from #xmonad having queried my issue: <allbery_b> I'm looking at darcs... WindowProperties uses the ManageHook code (!! --- more evidence that it's mis-typed) and ManageHook.hs in the core uses getStringProperty everywhere <allbery_b> (in particular it's using it for _NET_WM_* which is completely wrong as they are all defined as Unicode stored as 32 bit lists) <allbery_b> suggest you reopen that bug report, or file a new one about _NET_WM_* being misinterpreted I am attempting to match Skype's window title, which also contains the ™ character. The idea is that the module maintains a list of workspaces that are linked together. Whenever one switches to one of these workspaces, the other monitors are switched to the linked ones. Each time time it's with relatively few windows open (chromium with ~10 tabs and ~4 instances of urxvt). Nothing too heavy. Seems to be random at this point. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect it to...well, no lock up. But it freezes up and none of the keybindings in haskell.hs work (can't even recompile). I can't change workspaces or window focus, but the currently focused window still has its (non-monad related) bindings and functionality work fine (chromium, screen w/ urxvt) and I can still ctrl+alt+F1 to console. Mouse still works, but it doesn't change focus on the windows. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Arch x86_64 with kernel 2.6.34-ARCH and xmonad 0.9.1 Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". No --recompile output. See attached for xmonad.hs. Please provide any additional information below. It's done it twice in the less than 24 hours I've had it installed. ivanm @ #xmonad has confirmed this problem also. After switching back the selected window doesn't register keyboard input, however after selecting another window (using alt-tab; mouse focus doesn't work) everything works fine until the next workspace switch. Set-up XMonad.Prompt.Shell with defaulXPConfig changing the searchPredicate to something else. e.g. \x y -> map toLower x `isPrefixOf` map toLower y 2. run your prompt, start typing anything to see that your searchPredicate is ignored. In the above example case IS ignored, so typing 'VI' should show 'vi' or 'vim' on the list, but they're not. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? latest darcs on up-to-date Archlinux x86_64 Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". recompile prints nothing and my cluttered xmonad.hs is attached but only line 166 is related (which is a keybind to X.A.SpawnOn shellPromptHere). Please provide any additional information below. X.P.Shell also completes filenames using bash's compgen, it should respect user's setting (~/.inputrc) telling it to ignore-case (set completion- ignore-case on). But that's another problem, I'm just complaining about command completion for now. Comment #2 on issue 135 by neoraider: toggleBorders (XMonad.Action.NoBorders) Causes floating windows to grow in size http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=135 This bug occurred when I tried to disable the border of a Gnome-Do window automatically (it doesn't look nice with one), causing the Gnome-Do window to grow indefinitely, filling the whole screen after a few seconds. The attached patch solves the problem for me, making XMonad.Operations.floatLocation use the actual window border width instead of the globally configured one.
