Do you happen to have a non-rectangular screen, e.g. two screens of different size? There was a discussion about that on the xmonad mailing list. Determining layout based on display properties

Hello, I was wondering if there's a way to change the workspace layout based on the properties of the display (i.e., resolution). I'm trying to use a three column layout when my laptop is using an external monitor, but a two column layout when I'm using the built-in display. This doesn't have to be dynamic - if the workspace layouts are set once when xmonad is launched based on which monitors are in use, that would be fine. Thanks, Samir Unni

Take a program such as gnome-terminal, xterm or emacs 2. Use mod-right resizing to make the window as close to 0x0 size as possible. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The windows should remain at some minimum size. Instead, at least one of the dimensions seems to go to 0 and "undefined behaviour" occurs. With xterm, the terminal seems to become infinitely wide or infinitely tall. With emacs and gnome-terminal, the programs simply crash. Both of the programs can incidentally have multiple windows for the same process so this would just "mysteriously" make all of them disappear. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? XMonad 0.9 in Ubuntu 10.10. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". This is reproducible for me without any customisations. Please provide any additional information below.

In addition, the other functions are cleaned up to use cascade with the default "dmenu" command. I tried doing "darcs record", but I do not have packages that satisfy the testing version dependencies and the xmonad update from cabal has dependency solving issues with the system version. Based off of X.H.FloatNext, it has switches for just the next window and all following windows. It includes actions to bind to keys to be able to toggle the state, loggers to allow the current state to be printed in the statusbar via dynamicLogPP.
