Hi all, This is intended to be used with a XPrompt module for changing layouts, and for a replacement for Select, which won't require the use of the Layout and existentials, and should therefore simplify the code, removing the need for the stupid SerializedLayouts. Help: sendMessage doesn't work for me in combineTwo

Hi list, I added the following to my Config.hs hunk ./Config.hs 141 + , Layout $ combineTwo (TwoPane delta (5%16)) + (Mirror tiled) + (Circle) hunk ./Config.hs 240 + + -- for combineTwo + , ((modMask .|. controlMask .|. shiftMask, xK_l), sendMessage $ Move R) + , ((modMask .|. controlMask .|. shiftMask, xK_h), sendMessage $ Move L) + , ((modMask .|. controlMask .|. shiftMask, xK_Up), sendMessage $ Move U) + , ((modMask .|. controlMask .|. shiftMask, xK_Down), sendMessage $ Move D) in the hope that pressing the key would move a window from one pane to the other. How to make mouse follow focus?

It would be easy to do selection and paste with the mouse if it's near the window with focus. Perhaps making the mouse move to the upper right corner of the window, when every time focus changes, is a good way to go? The license thing was too narrow - or are my public domain contributions unwelcome because they are not BSD-3? I think comments are most important for exported functions users will use; it isn't so important for helper functions (used only in the module) to be very well-documented, right?

Fwd: Constrained resize for floated windows

I made a tiny patch for the main Xmonad code, to allow constrained resizing of windows. Hold down mod-SHIFT-button3 instead of just mod-button3, and the window will resize with width=height. I find this useful for resizing analogue xclock without getting an out-of-shape clock face. If it's not deemed useful for mainline I've packaged it as a contribution as well. constrainResize.mainline.diff - touches Config.hs and Operations.hs or constrainResize.contrib.diff - adds XMonadContrib/ConstrainedResize.hs - touches MetaModule.hs Cheers, Dougal. PS. This is my second attempt at submitting a patch here. Is there nowhere one can submit a patch without first signing up? The ease of 'darcs send' is more than counteracted by the annoyance of creating an account... /grumble grumble

Hi all, This code ought to work, but ManageDocks always crashes on my computer, so I haven't been able to test it properly. If those for whom ManageDocks already works could test this, that'd be great. I think it's a prettier interface for dealing with struts, and if it is sufficiently successful, we could eliminate the gaps global variable. Of course, to do this we'd have to add xinerama support, but that shouldn't be hard. And it'd be nice to have one less global variable (I think).
