Sometimes you just don't want to use XMonad for whatever reason (perhaps you are waiting for a fix to some problem involving oddball stuff like Windows programs under WINE). Then it'd be good to have the option to temporarily or permanently switch window manager. See <http://www.nongnu.org/ratpoison/doc/Using-Other-Window-Managers.html#Using%…>: 'tmpwm WM Command Gives control over to another window manager and regains control once it has terminated. WM is the path to the new window manager. This command is useful when you want to temporarily take a look at another window manager, or program under a different window manager, but you want to come back to ratpoison when you've finished your investigation. newwm window-manager Command' This are pretty self-explanatory, and I suspect easy to write an extension for. 'newwm' could probably just be a wrapper around exec, even. Note that extendind the fields of an XMonadExtensions does not break this! Mon Oct 22 22:55:47 CEST 2007 mail(a)joachim-breitner.de * STRUT aware gap toggling Without this patch, ManageDocks would only set the gap according to a window’s STRUT when the window is first mapped. This information would then get lost when the user toggle the gap. Now, when the user toggles the Gap, all present windows are scanned for STRUT settings, and the gap is set accordingly. No need to manually configure the gap anymore.

Implement screen map for physical monitor order not matching Xinerama order The internal screen numbering scheme used by Xinerama is arbitrary and may not match the physical order of monitors as attached by the user. This can lead to the mod-w/e/r switch hotkey doing the switches in a nonintuitive way. This patch implements a mapping that allows correcting this ordering in a central place, rather than modifying the key bindings directly.
