Hello, please find attached the following patch. I have a question in case it gets applied. I'd like to improve the mode to search for files (locate isn't fast/good enough). So far I thought of tracker [0] and recollq [1] but as noted none seemed 100% right. Per-monitor EWMH Gaps

Hi all, Is it possible to have per-monitor (Xinerama) gaps defined? Either I've an errant program defining EWMH hints, or I'm doing something wrong, but I've got taskbars and what have you which set the appropriate EWMH dock hints, starting on monitor 1. But for monitor2, I end up toggling the gaps manually. Is there a way of doing this properly? Note also this solution falls over if I end up switching workspace 1 on monitor 1, to monitor 2. David

xmonad and launcher prompt memory

Carlos, I'm wondering whether using the launcher prompt may be the reason for xmonad starting at 4 to 5 megs freshly and climbing to around 7 megs. I didn't try without the launcher promot and don't really complain but am curious whether there's some caching and possible space leak in either the launcher prompt or xmonad core or one of the popular action hooks. Gwern, this is not an objection to merging, just an observation. This is on ghc-7.6.1-i386. Any comments?

mod+q logs me out?

I discovered recently that my mod+q is not working correctly. When I press it it kicks me out and I have to login again, this crashes all the programs I'm using etc. I am using xmonad 0.9.1 on xubuntu 10.4. I installed xmonad with the package manager, and this happens on a fresh install with the default xmonad.hs. I don't think it has anything to do with the xmonad.hs file I use, but just in case it can be found at http://hpaste.org/74925. I also did a [2] ptrace on xmonad while I pressed mod+q which makes it look as though xmonad is sending garbage parameters to itself (thanks to geekosaurus on irc for this). lockup when starting gvim in terminal

If I start gvim (GUI version of vim) in a terminal I get an error message and gvim locks up. The message is: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- E852: The child process failed to start the GUI[xcb] Unknown sequence number while processing queue [xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called [xcb] Aborting, sorry about that. gvim: ../../src/xcb_io.c:273: poll_for_event: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can prevent it from happening, either by starting gvim with dmenu or by doing "gvim &" in a terminal. I think gvim normally starts as a child process from a terminal. Is this a bug? gnome theming is destroying my life

I probably updated my Ubuntu 12.04 install too enthusiastically, and suddenly I have a lot of horrible theming. In particular, menu bars are now a horrible grey colour, and my hand cursor is black with a white outline. Thunderbird has been particularly badly affected: there the menu bar has a dark grey background and black for the text colour. My gnome-relevant set up is `/usr/share/xsessions/xmonad.desktop` [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=XMonad Comment=Lightweight tiling window manager Exec=gnome-session --session=xmonad Icon=xmonad.png Type=XSession `/usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/xmonad.session` [GNOME Session] Name=Xmonad session RequiredComponents=gnome-settings-daemon;gnome-panel; RequiredProviders=windowmanager;notifications; DefaultProvider-windowmanager=xmonad DefaultProvider-notifications=notification-daemon Until a few days ago, this was giving me a very pleasant xmonad experience with a little gnome seasoning. But, it also seems as if I can't adjust my gnome settings. There's an Applications / System Tools / System Settings menu entry that hangs off the gnome-panel, and this allows the selection of themes from the Display option, but this doesn't seem to have any effect on what I see. I realise that this is more a Gnome question than an xmonad one, but my situation is more likely to be one that xmonad users understand and/or have encountered. I'd like to keep the gnome "seasoning" around if possible, but the way it looks at the moment is sooo ugly. Any advice gratefully received, Michael

Opening (so far) any gtk application's open dialog (file > open), and the dialog will not render, as if it were an invisible window. The proof of its existence lies in how it steals focus from its parent window and how the cursor changes when on top of it. When I move the dialog window, it appears and I can interact with it normally from there on out. This has happened with chromium, firefox, openoffice, and gvbam. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? See above. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? 0.9 on archlinux Are you using an xmonad.hs? Hi, are all Xmonad maintainers busy or what's holding up applying the XMonad.Prompt and the ghc-7.6 compatibility patches? Anything we can do to help get these upstream?
