I was trying execute the "demos.lhs" in the demos directory of FranTk, but an error of kind "Error while importing DLL: ... TCLPrim.dll" occurs. How resolve it? Thanks PS 1: I´m using hugs version of december 2001, in Windows XP. So, I execute FranTk through the batch file in bin directory (According instructions of Readme file). PS 2: The TCL-TK 8.0 is installed. This special track is concerned with all aspects of computing with constraints including algorithms, applications, environments, languages, models, and systems. We also solicit papers from any domain employing constraints, including computational linguistics, configuration, decision support, design, diagnosis, graphics, hardware verification, molecular biology, planning, qualitative reasoning, real-time systems, resource allocation, robotics, scheduling, software engineering, temporal reasoning, vision, visualization, and user interfaces. Papers that bridge disciplines or combine theory and practice or discuss novel reasoning methods are especially welcome. Special attention is focused around the use of constraint technologies in the networking, wireless and internet fields. Submissions ----------- We invite authors to submit papers on research on constraint solving and programming, with particular emphasis on assessing the current state of the art and identifying future directions. Hugs98 Oct2002 release candidate available

A new release of Hugs98 is just around the corner, introducing a number of worthwhile extensions and enhancements (see announcement blurb at the end of this message.) To help us flush out any remaining issues/bugs, a release candidate is now available for test use. Using functions from package haskell98 - GHC 5.04

Hi, I'm using ghc version 5.04 and I'm having a problem using functions from standard packages like "base" and "haskell98" For example In my program, I use the function "isDigit", which is part of haskell98.Data.Char When compiling my program, I get the error: Variable not in scope: isDigit. The same error occurs when I explicitly use the package haskell98 as in the following command-line. "ghc program.hs -package lang -package haskell98 -package data -fasm -fglasgow-exts -fallow-undecidable-instances -O2 --make -o program.exe" When trying to load this program in Hugs, there is nog problem at all. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug in ghc? Marco

That was the problem. Indeed, I assumed that did not have to give a package option and also that there was an implicit "import" in my Haskell Program, which is not the case. Regards, Marco

The Report says (Section D.4) "The function 'showsPrec d x r' accepts a precedence level 'd' (a number from 0 to 10), a value 'x', and a string 'r'. .... "The representation will be enclosed in parentheses if the precedence of the top-level constructor operator in 'x' is less than 'd'. Thus, if 'd' is 0 then the result is never surrounded in parentheses; if 'd' is 10 it is always surrounded in parentheses, unless it is an atomic expression." But in fact, the precedence of function application is 10, as the syntax makes clear. Indeed, the example code at the end of Appendix D shows a call to showsPrec with an argument of 11 (it's written "app_prec + 1"), for precisely this reason. So, I think that I have to make these changes to the Report: (A) The last sentence should say "..; if 'd' is 11 it is always surrounded in parentheses, unless it is an atomic expression (recall, function application has precedence 10)". (B) The earlier parenthesis should say "(a number from 0 to 11)". Does anyone disagree? Simon
