They will not interpret anything after that as anything but input for /bin/sh, so if you wanted to go 'runInTerm "'screen -r session' -title IRC"', you were SOL - the -title would not be seen by urxvt. This, needless to say, is bad, since then you can't do stuff like set the title which means various hooks and extensions are helpless. This patch adds an extra options argument which is inserted *before* the -e. If you want the old behaivour, you can just go 'runInTerm "" "executable"', but now if you need to do something extra, 'runInTerm "-title mutt" "mutt"' works fine. This patch also updates callers. decoration madness

Hi, I pushed a new module, and I called it DecorationMadness. There are some layouts (tall, mirror, accordion and circle) with decorations. Stuff I've used to test the decoration code I've been writing, mainly. But I also added a screen shot for each of the available layouts, and some documentation: http://gorgias.mine.nu/xmonad-docs/xmonad-contrib/XMonad-Layout-DecorationM… which is the main reason I collected those layouts in a single place. Each layout comes in two version: a simple one, with the default window's name shrinker and the default theme, and a version with the possibility to add custom options. Could it be a way to present to end users our code? Andrea

This should be fixed now (but I'm not so sure... please report any window's strange movement you may see).

screen redraw > 2s -> urxvt -tr in "noBorders Full" window

Hello, When switching to/from a "noBorders Full" window containing urxvt with transparency, it takes almost 2 seconds for the screen to redraw. The screen redraw is almost instantanous with urxvt plain background and/or normal (with borders) "Full" window. Can't remember when i first noticed this... some weeks ago (maybe when i started using noBorders ? :) Sorry if this has allready been mentionned. Bests and long live Xmonad ! Hi, these 3 patches are going to enable mouse dragging of decorated windows. Mouse dragging is going to work only with layouts using the windowArranger layer (obviously), which, at the present time, means only the SimpleFloat - and any layout using SimpleDecoration together with the windowArranger. DwmStyle is obviously excluded (see below to understand why). Since I'm experiencing some problems with focus changes and decoration I'm not pushing till I have some tester confirming I'm not breaking anything with those patches. The first patch is just for moving code: I added a mouseEventHook method to the DecorationStyle class (does it make sense? I thought different styles may have different event handling mechanisms). The second is just to enable mouse UI support in the windowArranger. The third should be safe: if the decoration we are clicking on is the decoration of the focused window we start grabbing it with the mouse. If it is not the focused window we focus it. The problem is that focus change, here, seems to be broken: the focus changes but the decoration colors do not, as if the decoration state was not being updated. I thought that could be related to issue #111 (by reading David's patch description) and I changed broadcastMessage to sendMessage in Main.handle. Still I didn't notice any effect (but I need to double check since perhaps I'm messing up my source trees). This is going to interfere with mouseDrag, which will check the decoration state to see if a decoration belongs to the focused window. One more thing: now, when I start dragging I do not calculate the distance between the mouse and the origin of the window, and so, at first, the window origin will abruptly change to reflect the mouse position. I know it's probably just a line of code but I didn't write it so far... I also need some advise on how to implement mouse resize: how do other WMs handle that? Should I check for a small area around the window's border? Just an area around the bottom right corner? Any idea? A call for themes

Hi, since the new Decoration system seems to be getting better, tonight I added a prompt to dynamically select a theme for the current workspace. While the prompt is not going to set the default theme (if you press mod+shift+space the default one will be reloaded), still it could be useful to have different themes on different workspaces, or to test a new theme before choosing it as the default one. Together with the prompt I added a new module: XMonad/Util/Themes.hs where to store user contributed themes to be listed in the prompt. At the present time I just added the default theme and the theme I'm using as my default one. I also added deifl's theme (I found it on the wiki). Since I was not able to relate the nick to a real name I did not fill all the needed information. Creating a theme should be straightforward, but you can use one of the available ones as a template. In the module there already are the instructions on how to add a new theme. At the present time the prompt will display only the theme name (it should be a single word name). But I hope to use the other information in the future. So, please add a description and your name/nickname too. Any suggestion is welcome. Even more if in the form of a darcs patch! :) I keep seeing wonderful screen shots, so please share you theme! Thanks, Andrea

Support literate Haskell config files?

Someone on #xmonad was asking today whether he could make his .xmonad/xmonad.hs a literate file; without thinking, I told him, sure, why not? Then it occurred to me that what I was thinking of was how you could execute 'runhaskell Setup configure', regardless of whether it was Setup.lhs or Setup.hs, and that that wouldn't work because Core.hs matches on xmonad.hs, not lhs. It seems to me that it's not a bad idea to let users keep their config file in literate haskell if they want. Hi, I'm not sure why, but it seems darcs send didn't work, so i send the patch manually. It would be nice if someone could review it, though it is basically the same as switchScreen. I find this useful because often i want to swap the contents of my screens. If you think it is appropriate, please include it. Hi I don't know if this is already possible or not, I am a relatively new user (and new to haskell). I would like to be able to hide a window. I tend to use workspace one for the internet and anything else that I shouldn't be doing at work, and it would be nice to be able to hide firefox behind the terminal and emacs so that is doesn't clutter the screen but still keep the current layout David Collins
