Please consider printing something like "xmonad: Another window manager already running, exiting..." instead or in addition to the above error message.

xmonad and VirtualBox/VNC

Hello I've noticed that when a VirtualBox window (in which I am running MS Windows XP) has focus keypresses directed at xmonad (mod key + some other key) are handled by VirtualBox (and the guest operating system it is running) rather than xmonad. The same happens when using a VNC client such as vinagre: keypresses directed at xmonad end up being received by the remote machine I am working with. Is there a way to avoid this and have xmonad intercept these keypresses? thanks ~lara

Ok, To reduce the problem only happen with Windows 7 remote desktop session. With 2003 server the clipboard works fine. Changing the default for toggle messages?

I have a keybinding setup for ToggleStruts so I can control gnome-panel's visibility. By default, gnome-panel is visible on all desktops. Is there an easy way to have gnome-panel be invisible by default? I like to have it available but 99% of the time I'm not interested in it. -Joe G.

Unfortunately hiding/showing using the ToggleMonitor message does not work. I've tried to ignore xclock with the doIgnore managehook before the manageMonitor hook. Furthermore I've run xmonad with defaultConfig and only the manageMonitor hook applied. However, neither helped. Any ideas/hints on this issue? Prepare a workspace with two terminals separated vertically like this: T1|T2 2. Make sure the first terminal T1 has focus. 3. Switch to another workspace. 4. Position the mouse cursor in the right region of the screen so that it will hover over T2 when you switch back to that workspace. 5. Switch back to the workspace prepared in step 1. Expected output should be one of the following: 1. T2 should automatically gain focus since the mouse now hover that terminal. 2. Focus should remain but as soon as you move the mouse cursor (thus hovering T2 again) it should switch focus to T2. Current behavior forces me to move the cursor first over T1 (which still has focus) and then back over T2 or alternately click T2. I am using xmonad version 0.9.2.
