Caps lock, togeter with ledmod in xmobar

Hi, I am in the progress of configurating xmobar togheter with Xmonad and so far it is going really good thanks to the help from xmonad web resources. I am using Archlinux. But now I am stuck. Installed "ledmon" from AUR and added in xmonad.hs [code] , Run CommandReader "/usr/bin/ledmon" "LED" , template = "%StdinReader% }{ <fc=#ffff00>%LED%</fc> %cpu% | %memory% * %swap% <fc=#ee9a00>%date%</fc> | %EGPF%" } [/code] Keyboard LED indication works great. The problem is that I from time to time want to enter Swedish caracters and for the reason switch to se keymap. I did that according to Archlinux wiki about X. in /etc/X11/xorg.conf i added. [code] Option "XkbLayout" "us, se" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:caps_toggle" [/code] I can now easily toggle keyboard layout using caps lock. However I do not get a indication in xmobar that caps lock is on. That would be great to se. Any idea on how to accomplies this? Thank you. Best regards, /Christer

Ledmon do not show status in xmobar, maped caps lock

Please provide any additional information below. As a general question, how do I go about debugging issues like this? In particular, how do I write out debugging information to files/console/screen? Spawning in master pane hides notification

Hi, I'm running xmonad with notify-osd. When, I spawn anything in the master pane (the first window), the notification from notify-osd becomes hidden behind the shifted windows. This does not happen if I spawn in the slave pane. I can confirm that I have this same bug with notification-daemon. I'm running xmonad 0.9.2. Any idea why this might be happening? Thanks, Albert

Yes, I can see how this would be a problem! Patching EZConfig so that it sends along key sequences that are not bound to anything should be possible, using submapDefault and, say, the sendKey function from XMonad.Util.Paste. Essentially the mkSubmaps and mkSubmaps' functions would have to be modified to carry along some extra information about the sequence of keypresses that have been used to get to the current point. Then that information could be used to create the default actions. (I have not thought very specifically about exactly what would need to be changed.) Unfortunately things are complicated by the addition of mkNamedKeymap and mkNamedSubmaps, which use a function (submapName) defined in a different module which would have to also be modified if you wanted to fix the Named variants as well.

A few issues with xmonad I'd like to fix

Hi, I'm now using xmonad for two months and I really like it. I have a few questions about some issues I'd like to fix so here there are: 1) I would like to use my keypad to switch to a given layout but I don't know how to do it. For instance: MOD + SHIFT + Keypad 1 => switch to 'tiled' MOD + SHIFT + Keypad 2 => switch to 'Full' etc ... 2) When I ALT-TAB once and release ALT and TAB, I like to go back to the previous window in the stack instead of going forward again, is this possible ? 3) Is there any bypass or automatic script that could do the "# cat /proc/####/fd/4" thing automatically when xmonad freezes? 4) Is there some kind of online config generator ? Some kind of html/javascript page that would generate an xmonad.hs file automatically from a set of checkboxes (azerty keyboard, add new layouts, etc). The idea here is to ease the quick config setup for a non developer or for someone less willing to learn and hack in Haskell for instance. 5) My desktops/workspaces 6 and 8 do not work. When I MOD + 6 or MOD + 8, it doesn't switch to it at all and MOD + SHIFT + 6 or 8 doesn't move the window to that workspace. Maybe this is tied to the fact that I have an belgian azerty keyboard but I do use the azerty config. Xmonad shortcuts just stopped working

I turned on my machine today and Xmonad's keyboard shortcuts no longer work. I haven't changed my config file in a long time, so I don't think that's it. I can tell that the window manager is responding because focus still follows my mouse fine. *I didn't turn on numslock or scroll lock. *I tried setting numlockMask to 0, didn't help. *I have modMask set to mod4Mask, and if I run xev and press the Windows key it says I'm pressing Super_L (which I believe is mod4). *Adding shift, control, or alt when pressing the Windows key doesn't make any of the shortcuts work either. *I rebooted into Windows, and the Windows key works fine there so I know the key isn't broken. *If I run metacity instead of xmonad I can Alt+Tab and Press Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right to switch desktops without a problem. The specification at http://standards.freedesktop.org/wm-spec/wm-spec-1.3.html#id2507080 states that when n is 0xffffffff the window is requesting to be placed on all desktops. Instead xmonad logs an error to .xsession-errors file. This bug triggered for me when trying to use xmonad as the window manager within kde. On launching krunner using "Windows-P" combination from kde4Config krunner doesn't appear. I am using ver 0.9.1 of xmonad on Kde 4.5.5 in Ubuntu 10.10. I had a quick look at the code to see if there was an easy fix but my Haskell is quite poor to attempt any changes. I'll be glad to test a fix though. Thanks, Punit Attachments: xmonad.hs.bak 2.2 KB
