Open any picture in the GIMP 2. Drag from the rulers into the canvas to create a guide What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect to see a guide appear underneath the mouse as I drag it over the canvas. What happens is that GIMP plus XMonad both hang. Moving the cursor around just gives feedback in the form of changing the pointer (on the canvas window, the cursor shows the selected GIMP tool). No XMonad keybindings work from that moment, as well. I have to kill GIMP from outside X. Afterwards, things go back to normal (except for the murdered GIMP...). What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? I'm using XMonad 0.9.2 on Gentoo. Are you using an xmonad.hs? Please attach it and the output of "xmonad --recompile". Please provide any additional information below. This adds an XState field, and potentially makes a positive difference in usability for people who enable it. My opinion is "won't fix" since to me it seems like few people would use it and even a tiny addition to Core needs a compelling reason to commit.

1 patch for repository http://code.haskell.org/XMonadContrib: During the Pnt math aesthetics rework, operator precedence and fixity went to default, breaking discrete linear and resize. This makes the Pnt math work as expected, so extra brackets aren't needed to get correct FlexibleManipulate behavior. What do you see instead? mod-shift-return should now pull up an xterm. Instead it still opens a gnome-terminal. What version of the product are you using? Set some bindings like this: ("M-t", runOrRaise "transmission" (className =? "Transmission")) or ("M-w", runOrRaise "firefox" (className =? "Shiretoko")) 2. Try to run these programs with created shortcuts 3. Try to run these programs without created shortcuts (i.e. from terminal or gmrun) What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Starting from terminal or gmrun looks fine while using shortcuts causes strange behavior. Firefox complains about connecting to session: "/usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message". Transmission doesn't want to open torrents from Firefox (torrents opened with Transmission from web-browser). It says something like "Transmission is already started." What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? I use actual version of ArchLinux. I checked dbus packages - they seem to be OK. Packages xmonad-darcs and xmonad-contrib-darcs built a few weeks ago. xmonad always requires reloading after reboot...

Hello everyone, I've been using xmonad for around 6 months, both at work and at home, and I think it's pretty much the best thing since the proverbial sliced bread. I'm just having one small problem that I wanted to ask for some advice on: I use xmonad with xfce4, mainly for the toolbar and also for a few additional plugins, and the extremely-useful mod-p launcher. Recently I've changed the mod key in ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs to mod4 (the windows key) because using alt was clashing with some other programmes, but this unfortunately stopped my beloved mod-p from functioning, (using either the old alt-p or the expected new mod4-p). I wanted this function mapped to mod4-p, so I tried remapping this key combination in xmonad.hs to spawn the correct process when I hit mod4-p, and this works fine, -except- that it only works after reloading xmonad.hs (mod4-q) after every startup. The mod4 key works perfectly except for this, and after reloading xmonad mod4-p works exactly as expected, so I was just wondering if anyone has any idea why it needs reloading each time? I've tried looking around the appropriate xmonad pages, and have so far not found any solutions, so thought I'd ask around a bit further. My full xmonad.hs is shown below, it's pretty short and sweet. Thanks very much! Testing XMonad configurations

Hi, I'm playing with different configurations and Layouts in xmonad but it is very slow to close session in order to see how changes look like. Is there any way to test xmonad configuration more straightforwardly? Perhaps using xvnc and exporting xmonad's DISPLAY to it? How do you do it when developing?

Cabal install problem

Hi everyone I have some problem for install 'cabal-install package' I downloaded and succesfully build a binary source ghc-7.0.2. Then I want to install cabal-0.10.2 and ı see some warning and last output like this Linking Setup ... Configuring Cabal-1.10.1.0... Setup: At least the following dependencies are missing: base >=4 && <3 && >=2 && <5, unix >=2.0 && <2.5 Error during cabal-install bootstrap: Configuring the Cabal package failed Then ı want to use cabal-0.8 and output like this Linking Setup ... Configuring Cabal-1.8.0.2... Possible bug in XMonad.Util.Scratchpad

Hi everyone I'm using XMonad.Util.Scratchpad and it seems like there's an issue related to the focusing of windows while a scratchpad window is opened. Best way to reproduce the issue is by using a simple tabbed layout from XMonad.Layout.Tabbed. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open two distinguishable windows w0 and w1 2. Open a (floating) scratchpad window while w0 is focused 3. Directly focus w1 (without changing the focus to any other window) 4. Move the focus back to the scratchpad window Notice how w0 is briefly focued after moving the focus back to the scratchpad window, bringing w0 to the foreground (instead of w1 staying on top). Seems like the focus always drops back to the window which was focused just before the scratchpad windows is opened. I hope this somehow explains the problem that I'm experiencing.
