New URL for the binary repository

Hi guys, I was informed by Kaiting -- who kindly hosts the binary repository on his server --, that the andromeda.kiwilight.com URL is considered obsolete. Instead, the binary repository should be configured as follows: [haskell] Server = http://www.kiwilight.com/haskell/$arch The old URL is going to work fine for the foreseeable future, but still the new one is preferable. Note that I dropped the previous use of "$repo" from the URL, too, to allow the binary repository to be configured under any name. Take care, Peter

Another tool for packaging Haskell

Since Planet Haskell hasn't been updating for a long time I thought I'd point to a blog post of mine on a tool I've been working on for a while: http://therning.org/magnus/archives/914 It's something I started working on earlier this year, after it became painfully obvious just how much work it was to check dependencies when updating the packages in ArchHaskell. That was pretty much all it was good for then, but it proved to be a big time saver when used in concert with cabal2arch. Lately I've been working on integrating PKGBUILD generation, which basically means that a repo like https://github.com/archhaskell/habs can be replaced by a database and a set of package-specific patches. Issue with -fvia-C and binutils 2.21

I just thought I'd point out that the combination GHC 7.0.x and binutils 2.21 isn't very good when using -fvia-C: http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/5050 There are a few unbuildable packages in HABS due to this. Any news about an update to the GHC 7.0.2 package?

The stripped libs in the current one is preventing the yesod executable from being compiled. https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/23247?project=1&string=ghc I saw GHC 7.0.2.-2 is in testing, which is supposed to fix this. Would someone have an idea as to the time frame on this? -Leif Warner

HABS makeworld script not recognizing remotely built packages during makepkg?

I'm trying to build yesod 0.8.0 in HABS. When running makeworld, it says: "Not building haskell-failure-0.1.0.1-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz (already built)." It got that package from the repo. But then at the bottom, it fails with: ==> Making package: haskell-hamlet 0.8.0-1 (Wed Apr 20 06:39:01 UTC 2011) ==> Checking runtime dependencies... ==> Installing missing dependencies... error: target not found: haskell-failure<0.2 ==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies. Build failed, check /home/chroot-x86_64/copy/build I can fix this just by bumping haskell-failure's pkgrel, forcing it to re-build locally. But there ought to be a better solution? -Leif Warner
