devtools version problem

Hi, Continuing my investigations about my building problem, I think I have found its cause and a way to reproduce it. Briefly, the important point is that the chroot environment must be created with devtools <= 20130408 (the last version that has makechrootpkg that support the "-d" flag). Once created, packages can be built even with newest versions of devtools that doesn't support the "-d" flag (but this requires to adapt the makeahpkg script to remove it). At the opposite, if the chroot is created with a newer version, Haskell packages will build and install, but with a message like: Diff-0.3.0: cannot find libHSDiff-0.3.0.a on library path (use --force to override) To reproduce, run the following commands once with devtools 20130408 and once with 20131020 (and don't forget to remove completely the "habs-temp" folder between the two tests): git clone https://github.com/StreakyCobra/habs.git habs-temp cd habs-temp cblrepo sync cblrepo pkgbuild Diff ./makeahpkg -c -- Diff # sudo rm habs-temp -rf Can anybody confirm this behavior? Build machine broken!

A couple of things came up during the last few days that made me interested in upgrading the build machine I've been using. Unfortunately the system was so far out of date that the update wasn't very easy, and I managed to completely break it. Furthermore, the owner of the machine is on a trip so it's unlikely to be brought back to working order any time soon :( Unfortunately this means that I'm unlikely to perform any updates of [haskell-core] for a while. I've just put together an experimental PKGBUILD for building ghc from git and after a night of building there's now a package. Contributing - Getting started questions

Hi everybody, I am starting with Arch-Haskell after one year of "cabal-install only" philosophy, to clean up a bit my management of Haskell softwares (and why not getting involved if I can be helpful). I have some questions and I guess this is the right place to start. So first of all about the general workflow to be sure to understand it correctly. As far I have understand/guessed that: 1. Someone writes a cabalized haskell library/executable and puts in on hackage. 2. Using the "cblrepo" tools (cblrepo add ...), hackage libraries/executables can be added to "habs". 3. PKGBUILD and archlinux packages can be builded from habs and then installed on the system 3. Finally some packages are integrated to the "main" habs and Magnus (or someone else?) signs the package and puts it into the [haskell-core] repository. Is that correct? Minor rev to include GHC 7.0.3

Hey all, (Back from vacation). With GHC 7.0.3 out, and fixing many important bugs (such as Mac support wrt. XCode 4, split objs on Mac, and correct doc installers for Windows, I propose we have a minor release in the next week. Re: Pandoc restriction for Parsec <3

Don, Peter Simons says that pandoc won't build on arch because parsec 2 is not available there, and pandoc depends on parsec < 3. I don't want to change that dependency, because when compiled against the current parsec 3, pandoc is about twice as slow as when compiled against parsec 2. Peter proposes uploading a new 'open-pandoc' package with the parsec restriction removed. I think that will just confuse users who want to install pandoc; a better solution, obviously, would be for parsec 2 to be made available on Arch. I don't know why it wouldn't be; after all, parsec 2 is (last I checked) still the version in the Haskell platform, and the default for cabal-install; and many Hackage packages besides pandoc depend on parsec < 3. So I thought I'd ping you to see what the story is; please cc Peter in your reply...
