Rebuild GHC against newer ncurses?

I just did "pacman -Syu", and among other things, it included an ncurses update: core/ncurses 5.9-7 -> 6.0-3 Now things like ghci, ghc-pkg, etc fail with "error while loading shared libraries: libncursesw.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" There's a libncursesw.so.6 instead, now. I suspect the ArchHaskell-provided GHC needs rebuilding against the newer ncurses?

haskell on armv7

short version: my question is basically how to go about getting llvm 3.5 onto armv7 arch so I can use the ghc 7.10.2 binary, available here: https://www.haskell.org/ghc/download_ghc_7_10_2#binaries I'm running a raspberry pi 2 with arch. One reason I'm using arch is that its the only distro I've tried so far with a working ghci on arch. Other things have also gone smoothly compared with raspian, for instance using Jack. However, I'm running in to problems compiling with 7.8.2, for instance ghc never finishing a compile, exiting with rc = -11, etc. I downgraded llvm to 3.4.2 since llvm 3.6 is too new for ghc 7.8.2. Compiling with 3.6 leads to other problems. My llvm downgrade packages came from the old arm-arch rollback machine, which unfortunately is no longer with us. Hints, suggestions? Thanks, Ben

Links from /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/index.html not referring to packages

E.g. if I click on Data.Map from /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/index.html, I get a 404 on /usr/share/doc/ghc/html/libraries/Data-Map.html, because that document actually lives in the "containers" dir under "libraries". It says the name of the package on the right hand side, but that's not part of the URL for some reason. Think this is something with the packaging, or maybe an upstream issue?

Best way to workaround haskell-nats blocking upgrade?

Hi, When I try to upgrade I get this blocking error: > :: Starting full system upgrade... > resolving dependencies... > looking for conflicting packages... > error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) > :: haskell-nats: requires ghc=7.8.4-1 > :: haskell-nats: requires haskell-hashable=1.2.3.1-2 Then I saw in https://github.com/archhaskell/habs/issues/183 this was a known issue, but I don't really get what the best workaround for it is: - I tried to `--ignore haskell-nats`, to no avail; - I tried to remove it but `haskell-semigroups` depends on it; - I tried to reinstall `haskell-semigroups` but it gave a long list of errors with many packages saying they depend on ghc=7.8.4-1 (my databases are up to date though); - I tried to reinstall haskell-gitit, which pulls haskell-pandoc but I also get a "failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)" error. So, is the only way to workaround this to purge the whole Haskell platform and then reinstall it, as suggested in the previously mentioned issue? Thanks

pacman output for archhaskell packages

When (re)installing ArchHaskell packages, pacman produces some unusual and typically uninformative output compared to for non-haskell packages. I mean, things like: Reading package info from stdin ... done. and, worse, there is often an "error" when upgrading a package "command failed to execute correctly", which appears to be harmless but is confronting nevertheless. Would it be possible to engineer the ArchHaskell PKGBUILDs so as to suppress these messages?

Unfortunately there will be a delay in the update of [haskell-happstack] due to the recent changes to cblrepo ( https://github.com/magthe/cblrepo/issues/42) I'll update as soon as the issue is resolved. For the brave: alternative versioning in testing repo

The repo [haskell-testing] now contains all packages from [haskell-core] modified according to one of the alternatives for a new versioning scheme: <package name>-<version>_<x-rev>-<release> All the existing packages have been taken apart, had their meta data modified, and then been re-assembled again.
