haskell platform dependencies

hi there. I ran into some troubles installing haskell-platform today. Specifically, community contained haskell-zlib-0.5.2.0, which is too recent, and there was no pkgbuild for haskell-zlib-0.5.0.0 in AUR. So I'm wondering : can the arch-haskell script maintain a version of all dependencies of the haskell-platform in AUR, so we don't have problems installing it ? Or maybe having a set of pkgbuilds with a name like haskell-zlib-hp to explicitely state that it is the version blessed by the haskell-platform ? Cheers Tom

Proper dependencies, please!

Yesterday there was an update to haskell-x11 available (1.4.6.1) and pacman was happy with installing it. GHC however, was not since a few of the other installed packages depended on version 1.4.5. Despite ghc-pkg complaining loudly pacman pushed on and in the end I was left with a somewhat broken system. To fix it I ran "pacman -Rcs haskell-x11", but that of course means I can't use xmonad until it has been recompiled against the newer haskell-x11. AFAICS this all stems from xmonad having the dependency on "haskell-x11" when it in fact ought be on "haskell-x11>=1.4.5 haskell<1.4.6". Integration with Hackage now live

The archlinux package has some scripts for generating maps of hackage names to Arch urls. Hackage now displays links to distro packages, of which Arch is the most common at the moment (Debian is also there if you hunt around): http://hackage.haskell.org/package/pureMD5 -- Don

Unregistering lots of packages

Unregistering lots of packages is quite slow now, since we run haddock in the unregister script (to recompute the index?). Any thoughts on how to avoid it?

Updated packages to cabal2arch > 0.6

Hey all, As you can see, http://www.galois.com/~dons/arch-haskell-status.html I've updated almost all AUR packages to have been built with cabal2arch 0.6.1. This should fix the "yaourt rebuild" problem. I've also modified cabal2arch to inject dependencies for QuickCheck and parsec, when packages depend on versions newer than that shipped in the core. (Same for all core packages, actually). Finally, you'll notice in the status page that the names of packages are sometimes colored red or green: this indicates whether the last time they were built, it succeed for failed to build. I'm now doing a full rebuild of AUR Haskell, using cabal-install to do the topological ordering. You should see a complete set of green/red lights for buildable packages tomorrow sometime. -- Don

documentation failures due to conflicting with ghc docs

So another issue raised by the documentation of packages: haskell-regex-base: /usr/share/doc/ghc/libraries/regex-base exists in filesystem The docs are installed in the right place, then we do a symlink, install -d -m755 $pkgdir/usr/share/doc/ghc/libraries ln -s /usr/share/doc/${pkgname}/html ${pkgdir}/usr/share/doc/ghc/libraries/regex-base Seems like something else we want to think about. -- Don

Check it: http://www.galois.com/~dons/arch-haskell-status.html You can sort on the data you're interested in, e.g. * built against old cabal2arch * popular on hackage * popular on AUR (generated by the 'report' function in Distribution.ArchLinux.Report). haddock failures stopping packages building

Hey all, Anyone have thoughts on whether we treat haddock failing at build time as a non-fatal error now? A couple of projects aren't building, e.g. haskell-xosd 0.1.1-1 due to a haddock failure. I'm wondering if we should handle that gracefully. -- Don
