WinHugs, fix module manager add button

Hi, This fixes the module manager add button. Before it didn't work, now it does. It also abstracts out the showing of an open dialog box between the two places, and deletes the legacy code that made it all break. Thanks Neil

WinHugs, new installer

Hi, Attached is a new installer for WinHugs. Its custom written, and has been used successfully on Pingus for years [http://pingus.seul.org/] This version has some modifications. I have placed 2 screenshots at the bottom of http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~ndm/projects/winhugs.php The code is at http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~ndm/temp/installer.zip Advantages: 100% open source 100% customisable Registers Open and Edit via winhugs, along with a new document handler for windows. This removes the need for WinHugs/register Cat'able package creation (see how to create) 29Kb overhead vs just distributing a zip Can be opened by winzip, if people want Looks pretty Disadvantages: No cancel once you start installing, I don't think this is such a big deal, but it can be remedied with effort No uninstall, I will fix this before release, but again its not a massive problem since a winhugs install is pretty non-invasive Creating a package: Get a directory, as you want it installing Zip it up copy /b installer.exe + installer.zip winhugs.exe distribute winhugs.exe If you just unzip the linked file into /src/winhugs/installer it will all work perfectly. Once this is in, I'll put together a winhugs snapshot for people to beta test. I am now using WinHugs as my primary haskell development environment, and so are at least 3 others. Its solid and very useable. The code is C++. I would appreciate it if the formatting was not changed (i.e. tabs and spaces, bracketing placement) as then it will be easier to sync it with Pingus, since the code is already in their .svn. Hi, This patch adds an /edit flag. The behaviour of winhugs on: winhugs.exe /edit filename.hs is to fire up whichever editor is configured with winhugs and exit winhugs. The massive advantage of this is a user can set winhugs /edit as their file handler for editing haskell files, and as they change the option in winhugs, it gets changed in their system. This patch lays the groundwork for a new installer (expect that patch tomorrow :) ) Neil

WinHugs, prettier file listings

Hi, On WinHugs, when you get a listing of all files loaded, each file is pretty long. Most of it corresponds to either the {Hugs} prefix, or the current directory prefix. This adds no useful information. This patch makes the listing replace the prefix with {Hugs} or . if it can safely. It also fixes up the editor loading to add this information back in. It also abstracts the filename outputting for Windows, instead of going down WinHugsHyperlink (which was a little bit unclean). Thanks Neil

Windows installer

Hi, I'm not particularly overjoyed with an approach which means the tools to build a release installer are not available in the CVS, as this kind of goes against open source (and more practically, it means I personally can't build test releases). I propose that either: 1) The tools used to make the current installer .msi files make themselves known to the world, along with appropriate documentation and scripts. 2) I (or someone else) writes an MSI file generator, probably using the free Wix toolset. 3) I (or someone else) writes an NSIS installer, which is an .exe installer based on the NSIS toolkit, Google seems to now use this as their preferred installer setup, so it can't be too bad. 4) I (or someone else) writes an installer from the ground up. Its not that much work, as I already have about 98% of the code from writing an installer from the Pingus project. The installer is a simple cat installer.exe data.zip > winhugs.exe installer, so it allows making an easy distribution from a zip file, even under Linux. Obviously 1 would be least work if feasible. If I was going to write an installer for the Windows build, which one would people prefer out of 2, 3 and 4? Does anyone use the large scale deployment options found in a .msi, and are those options even in the WinHugs .msi file? Thanks Neil
