Austin Your new test, CatPairs, has an odd commit message: commit e0481fc664c16ba3c118506e153d8b27c3c2c9c8 Author: Austin Seipp <aseipp(a)pobox.com> Date: Thu May 30 08:28:11 2013 -0500 Whoops. :( Moreover, It fails, thus: CatPairs.hs:28:31: The first argument of ‛Category’ should have kind ‛* -> * -> *’, but ‛WrapPipe m’ has kind ‛(,) * * -> (,) * * -> *’ In the instance declaration for ‛Category (WrapPipe m)’ I'm not sure what is supposed to happen. atMost in GHC.Event.PSQ causes seqfault or bus error

Hi, threadDelay of GHC head causes seqfault or bus error on 32bit machine including Mac and Linux. This bug does not exist as least in GHC 7.4.2. This bug is due to atMost of GHC.Event.PSQ. After modifying libraries/base/base.cabal to export GHC.Event and building GHC head, the following code (compiled by the GHC head with -threaded) causes segfault or bus error: main :: IO () main = do s <- newSource ents <- replicateM 100 (entry s) let q = fold ents print $ Q.atMost 1.5 q fold :: [(Q.Key, Q.Prio)] -> Q.PSQ () fold [] = Q.empty fold ((u,r):xs) = Q.insert u r () $ fold xs entry :: UniqueSource -> IO (Q.Key, Q.Prio) entry s = do u <- newUnique s r <- randomIO return (u,r) But if I copy GHC.Event.PSQ and GHC.Event.Unique, modify their module names, and compile the above code with them, no segfault/bus error happens. I have been tracking this for a long time but I have no idea why this happens. Any advice would be highly appreciated. --with-gcc does not work well

Hi, I'm trying to validate GHC head with GCC 4.7 on FreeBSD. Module import and use in GHC plugin?

In writing GHC plugins, how can I (a) add a module import (preferably qualified) and (b) make vars/ids for names imported from the newly imported module (to insert in the transformed Core code)? If it's not possible to do what I want, I'd be willing to require an explicit import (say "import qualified Foo") in client code, as a temporary workaround. So far I've been unable to import even from the base package. Maybe I'm missing something basic that you folks have learned. Ian I'm stuck again. This time I'm trying to run nofib. But all attempts yield gibberish below Apparently mk/config.mk.in contains GHC_STAGE2 = $(ghc-stage2_INPLACE) which is, I believe, essential to nofib. But I can't see anywhere that ghc-stage2_INPLACE is set. It would be great to have your help in getting un-stuck. I just noticed that on HEAD, happy reports for Parser.y.pp: $ happy -agc --strict compiler/stage1/build/Parser.y unused rules: 2 shift/reduce conflicts: 49 reduce/reduce conflicts: 1 But the code claims: 12 October 2012 Conflicts: 43 shift/reduce 1 reduce/reduce So somewhere recently we have picked up 6 additional shift/reduce conflicts. fixing up links to commits and ghc source on trac wiki/trackers

Hey all, Currently the commit/ source file links on trac wiki and tickets are all dead, and while thats not a problem for active ghc devs and such, it does create more friction for new users. My understanding is the previously the file and commit references would point at a haskell.org repository, would it be worth having them point at the github analogues thereof? (and for that matter would that be easy to do, or take up more of the finite ghc dev time?) (in my tickets or the like, i'm by hand doing ghc file / commit links to github to make it easier for myself and others to look up the relevant info.)

[PATCH 2/2] add arm-unknown-linux to platforms which do not support shared libs

This patch disables shared libs support on arm-unknown-linux platform. It unbreaks ghc-stage2 on this platform after recent Ian's changes in dynamic/shared libs domain.
